So how did your beardies get their names?

There are so many interesting names I see here on these boards, I'm just curious how did we come up with them?
Freddie was named after the Beardie in Nims' Island. Bad movie, Jody Foster is just so wrong in that role. But anyways, my 9 year old daughter who had wanted a Beardie for a while announced that when we get a beardie she's gonna name him Fred. And she did, and HE really is a he named Fred. I was worried that it would havta be Frederina for a while. That's my boring story. Liz

Rachel and I were at a local bar enjoying a killer all you can eat fish fry on a Friday evening and we decided that we were going to pick a name for the lizard. So we started naming off all the dragons names we could think of from TV shows and movies and didn't really like any of them. Fast forward about 5 minutes and enter a drunk guy that thought Rachel was cute and decided to let her know it. (Apparently he didn't see me sitting there or was too drunk to care) He walks up to our table and slurs " Hey I am Elliott and I want an all I can eat basket of you[Rachel]" So we just start laughing at the guy adn he stumbles off just as quick as he came. Then Rachel says " Hey remember that movie ""Pete's Dragon""?" "The invisible dragons name was Elliott" she continues. Then I thought about it and said "You know...he does kind of look like an Elliott" and so it was.....

Chimaira my daughter named her after one of her bands... (eeww btw)
Kinnokami aka Kinno my hubby named him because it was his turn lol His name means *really cool*
Kangaroo aka Roo got her name because of her kinked tail she used it to stand on like a Kangaroo.
Alexstrasza aka Lexia my hubby named her after a Dragon Queen from world of warcraft....
Bobblehead aka Bobble (he hasnt been named yet thats just what i call him) when he came to live with us he was little and he was all head and he would move it up and down so Bobblehead fit. I think we will end up keeping the name if my daughter dosnt name him lol

I remember the movie, "Pete's Dragon." Elliott was a very cool dragon in that movie and I'm sure your Elliott will be just as cool.

I was surprised that my DD didn't pick something more along the lines of Pokemon, Charizard-her fav or something anime based. She's so into it! I saw someone that named their beardie Snorlax. That just cracked me up! Munchlax would be more like it! My kid gets to name all our critters. I just get to pay the bills.

Well, my beardie was originally named Derek... for about 5 seconds, then I realized the name didn't fit him. I still liked Derek so I just made the name smaller and thus came Dirk.
The funny thing was is that I hated the name Dirk and was pretty horrified when the name seemed to stick on him. :roll:

Nero was also named because he was (still is) a spoiled tyrant, like Neromom39's. We'd named him Nero way before I got an account here, so I didn't know about the first Nero that was here. LOL!

Before he got his permanent name, he had a whole range of temporary names, from Little One (which is what the vet calls him), to Skippy, Ozzy, to Gob (from Arrested Development), and then to Michael Jackson (he was preshedding one foot for the longest time and it looked like a white glove). Should have thought of using Final Fantasy names, though. I also love FF

I seem to never be able to think of good names for my pets. I hear names other people have named the animals and I'm always thinking, oh, that's such a cute name. I'm very "unoriginal."

I named Kookie after the Australian bird, the Kookaburra.

In the novel and movie Eragon he had a Dragon named saphira that was his best friend and meant the world to him. That is how saphira got her name.

For the first month that we had Nero, we thought he was a girl and 'her' name was Jade.

I had both names picked out before I even picked him out :wink:

When my girlfriend and I would go to reptile shows we'd always see the "fancy" dragons. The hypo translucent leather backs and such. She always called them jackpot babies, because they have everything. So for her birthday I got her a hypo leatherback that was het for trans, so he's allllmost a jackpot baby.......so his name is A.J. for "almost jackpot". He's so pretty, he's a jackpot baby to me.

Twitch is what we call her but it's her middle name. Trey wanted to name her "Flame" after a dragon from Spyro but she was so active when we got her and every time we moved her head twitched to watch us so we called her 'Twitch'. Trey still calls her 'Flame.' Flame fits because her beard is so orange! But she is still our Twitchie

Hermes came to us with his name. He is small and so quick! So the name of the messenger god fits. If he does turn out to be a girl he will be "Hermione" but we're pretty sure what we're seeing are femoral pores and he is a boy...

we are new to this..... but, I thought I would share why we called our BD KAFKA.
I love reading and my boyfriend and I agreed to call him KAFKA after my favourite book, Kafka On The Shore by Haruki Murakami. It's a great book with a talking cat and many surreal characters....

I'm a big Toybox fan (They're a band not a box that holds toys) Before I got Anara in my possession, I was watching her on webcam while she was at John's house (b3ardi3lov3r) and listening to music. One of Toybox's songs is called Sayonara. When I was listening to the words, I liked the sound of it.. so I spelt it Anara. A-nar-a. I was gonna give a link to the song but I can't find it on youtube for some reason. Not very popular.. Lol. But if you type in Toybox on there, it pulls up other songs. I think they're considered techno. Don't diss! Lol. I love them. Anyone I tell laughs at me.
