Smelly Feeders

So my mealworms smell absolutely horrible. No the entire room smells horrible. I put them all out in the garage but it didnt help much. It is so bad I am extremely embarrassed to have anyone over. Do you guys have any tips of making the room smell better? I am EXTREMELY sick of it. I am open to ides soooo?

Replace the substrate often. That should do it.

Yea replace substrate. You can also keep a candle near the bin.

i didnt change my sub for almost a month in my superworm and it still smelled ok...
crickets on the other hand is like every 4 days... fk crckets suck

We use rice crispies for ours, and that works well. They usually get smelly due to moisture and mold in the substrate, so you can either clean the substrate more often or add more of it to their container. We use rice crispies because when you use a sifter, such as the one designed for sand, the whole rice crispies and the worms don't sift through, but the broken down crispies and the poop sift through easily. We can clean a few bins of several thousand worms in a matter of minutes, which is helpful for the sheer quantity that we have in stock! For you at home, it should make maintaining a thousand or so a piece of cake.
