okay dino hasn't been eating regularly, we are thinking its because of our compact uvb. we turned it off about 2 days ago, and are waiting for another 2 days or so for the 10.0 to get here. he poops regularly, eats a few crickets a day, and a little bit of lettuce. this morning his poo was slimy, and was smelly. i couldn't smell it while in the cage but when i picked it up with a napkin I could smell it.
i vaguely remember seeing something about this being bad? helpp

I would like to know what UV lighting you have purchased? (but I am going to assume that it was the ReptiSUN 10.0?)

Usually runny/extremely smelly poo are signs of parasites which usually occur with improper heating and lighting, nutrition, or stress in captive bearded dragons. But to help you... I would like it if you could answer a few questions...

What size enclosure do you have your dragon in?
What type substrate do you have on the bottom of your tank?
Do you use a separate basking bulb? What kind and what is the wattage?
What are the basking temps?
What is the cool side temp?
Do you take the temps with a stick on thermometer, a digital thermometer with a wire and a probe end or a temp gun?
Where exactly are you taking your basking temps?
Do you use a heat rock or heat pad?
What do you feed your dragon? Please be specific.
How often do you feed and what time do you feed (morning, afternoon, night)?
Do you gutload (feed) your crickets, worms, etc?
Do you use vitamin or calcium supplements? What brand(s)? How many days a week do you use each of them?
Is your dragon having regular bowel movements (poops)?
Do you bath your dragon? How often?

Hrm... and how long have you had him for? Relocation stress may contribute to his noneating habits of crickets... I know that is what Calypso did the first 2 weeks we had her.

Also, what lettuce are you feeding him? You shouldn't really be feeding any sort of lettuce regardless because it lacks the nutrients found in a proper dragon diet. Its more water than anything else and, with the additional bathing you give him, could be contributing to the 'slimy/runny' poo. Lean more toward dark leafy greens, like collards, dandelions, mustards, escarole, etc. With staple fruits and veggies, like butternaut sqwaush.

And poop will smell, especially when you bring it to your nose. :D Its only if they poo and it stinks up the entire room and makes you want to throw up then you know you have a problem :puke:

Got a Fecal sample done at Vet for smelly poop. Beardie is fine. Might just be change in diet. Feeding worms makes his poop smell bad? I stopped giving silkworms and I use Phoenix worms and crix sometimes. I guess I worried for nothing!
