Silkworms

I want to start feeding silkworms as a staple diet. With silkworms costing more per quantity than crickets I have a question. Do juvies still eat up to 40-50 silkwoms a meal as they can with crickets or is it less? Ive never seen the size of a silkworm so Im not sure how they compare to other feeders.

You should still feed them as many as they will eat, however, with silkworms being much larger than crickets, they will eat less silkworms than they did crickets. There is no magic number, you will just have to see how many your beardie can eat in a 10-15 minute period. The larger the silkworm, the less they will have to eat to fill up, but remember to use the space between the eyes rule.

It does depend on the dragon. Mine eats 5 to 7 at one time they are the med size silks. He is 13 inches long and 14 weeks old. He never saw a worm before we got him from the breeder. I tried him on phoenix but they were too small for him when he was 10inches long. But he loves the larger silks and butterworms.

My girl would eat probably 20 + silkworms if I let her.

You will just need to see how much yours will eat. They are quite expensive, but seem to be cheaper if you buy them as eggs and raise them yourself.
