Signs of too much & too little UVB?

Hello,

So I am home with my beardie almost every day and I watch for signs that she is getting too hot/cold and adjust her heat lamp accordingly. When she's too cold, she feels cold to touch and all she does is lie there and look lethargic. When she's too hot, her mouth is open wide and she inches away from her heat lamp.

How can I tell if she's getting too much or too little UVB?? Are there any behaviors I can watch for?

Too much UVB usually results in hiding or seeking shade frequently. The best thing to do is set your tank up with a gradient of UVB and a gradient of heat. Shoot for 100-110 in the basking area with a cool side of about 75-80. The UVB light should sit over the basking area, leaving the cool side with little to no UVB. The height of the UVB from the basking area depends on the type and brand of UVB you are using, as they aren't all the same output. Creating these gradients will allow her to move around and get what she needs at a given time. It's important to have accurate temperature readings.
