Here is an update on the condition of my beardie. I think the problem was a bad case of dehydration. I guess her demeanour has changed she has started moving around after having a bath. And being misted. She is drinking the water that drops onto her nose and seems to have gotten some mobility back in her legs. I think this was a close call for me as I have been worried all day. She will
Be receiving dusted crickets tonight for dinner hoping that she has the energy to eat. I'm
Not sure if it's a combination of her intaking the calcium last night going through her system or she just really needed to be hydrated. I don't think this is a more serious underlying issue I think it was just a case of she was weak because she really needed a good soak. I will post again once I get home and post a pic as well but from what I hear things are looking up for my little baby.

That's good to hear. :) Although a lot of babies come from very sick stock as Varalidaine mentioned, hopefully this is something that can be helped. Please update when you can and if she eats.

Hi. Glad she's improving. You really need to replace that uvb with a reptisun 10.0 Tube. Those coils/compacts really are not very good at all. They don't give off enough uvb. They cause appetite, lethargy and eye issues. Hopefully he'll keep improving especially once you get the proper light and temps. What are the temps and how do you take them?

I have a digital thermometer. On the hot side it's usually about 101 during the day and around 85 at night. I'm afraid that my beardie won't eat anything now. I tried earlier and there was no insterest in eating all. She seems to do is sleep and lay around she will drink when misted but that's about all she does checked her belly no signs of impaction. But I fear the worst is she can't move 3 out of 4 legs I toe her toes and get no response. I want to say that I hope she gets better but at this point I'm so unsure I feel I messed up somewhere.

Sorry she's not doing well. Like I said replace that uvb. You can even turn if off for a couple of days to see if he improves. Also you can get some stage one babyfood like chicken and mix with squash mix some calcium in that. Hopefully the babyfood with hydrate her and give her some energy.

Thank you I am looking into a bulb and I have spoke with some very helpful people in my life. I'm calling the vet tomorrow and possibly seeing if I can get her into the vet asap. Hopefully get some answers and see if there's anything I can do. I will also look into the baby food not sure how I would get it into her system. Just praying she holds on through the night.

Hello,

I am sorry your baby isn't doing well at all.
What type of digital probe/thermometer are you using & where is it placed?
Did you turn off the compact/coil light also & just use the basking lights right now?
Keep the nighttime temperatures to a bit lower at a range of 78-82. Keeping him too hot overnight may cause some heat stress.
Could a food item have been too large?
Adeno is very prevalent in so many babies in petstores, but, breeders have adeno issues, too.
Have you been giving calcium also? To get some baby food into her, you can use a plastic dropper or plastic syringe & drip some onto her nose to see if she will lick any of it off.
I hope that she improves, poor thing. Keep us updated on her.

Thanks tracie. I'm not sure if the brand. The thermometer is. The probe is about halfway up the back of the terrarium. And I couldn't get anything into her today just water. Her uv light is at the other end of the tank and turns on at 6am turns off at 8pm. Doesn't she need the uv light? What would turning it off do? I hope she pulls through I hope she doesn't have adeno. As far as a large food item. I accidentally did drop a cricket in that was just slightly oversized. But couldn't get it out before she gobbled it up but that was like the day after I got her she has been having bowel movements so I don't think it's impaction.

It's with great sadness that I have to say my little beardie pepper has passed away as of 9am on January 17, 2017. She will be missed and it breaks my heart to know I lost my first beardie at such a young age. I truly believe that I had purchased her from the petstore and she was already ill. I don't think I had anything to do with her passing. But I will be taking the little body to the petstore and making sure I get my money back or a new lizard that comes with a clean bill of health. I believe ADV is what killed my lizard. I will also be leaving a review on the petsmart website.

thank you guys for all the support on here this is a great source of information. i know that i did all i could for this little one but i think maybe there was an underlying issue to peppers passing that i was not aware of. the unfortunate part was i was maybe an hour or so away from taking her to the vet when i discovered her passing. i cared for this beardie and loved it as much as i could. but in the end i gave her the best life i could and i think that made her final days more peaceful i would have rather had her pass in the home i built for her tahn stuck in one of those horrid petsmart tanks. never again will i buy anything from petsmart. they sold me a sick lizard and when i questioned them on if they would test pepper for any infections or viruses they simply said no we wont. our petcare manager will be looking into it but the problem stems from our supplier. so never again will they get my business. i am going to a different pet store that has a very good reputation in my hometown. plus their beardies are about $20 cheaper than petsmart. this was a sad day for me that is for sure but also learned a lesson out of this. pepper had a good life. short but good. i will never forget my first beardie.

I am sorry for your loss, but not at all surprised. I would return anything she touched as well, as ADV is very easy to contract. Just start all over.

Like I said, this wasn't your doing. They come in sick from the suppliers. All I can say is please be aware that pet stores, unless a "mom and pop" type shop, all source from mills. The biggest suppliers being Sandfire (PetSmart) and Reptiles By Mac (Petco). I would gladly pay more money for a well cared for animal and whose breeders are checked for parasites and disease and genetics are tracked, than get a cheaper one that came from a mill/pet store. If you can, it's best not to support that kind of business. The animals suffer immeasurably at mills, all for the sake of a low price and convenience. Bearded Dragons are all over Craigslist and similar websites. Maybe check there instead? So many animals need homes and you would not BELIEVE the amount of dragons kept on sand with only a heat lamp and no UVB that I see on Craiglist. Poor babes.

If you want, you can also call PetSmart's help line and file a report on the death of your animal. When I worked at a PetSmart, I made my manager adopt a leopard gecko out to me for free because he was disgustingly thin. He died the day after I got him, so I called and filed a report on the abuse at the mills they supply from. You can do the same, and let them know you won't be buying from the company again until they stop supporting such inhumane and cruel practices. The reptile supplier video Peta released will break your heart. I worked at a Petco when they released those videos and Petco retracted their contract the DAY that video came out. Just look up Peta Petco on YouTube and you'll find it.

You can call this number and follow the rabbit hole till you speak to a person: 888-839-9638

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
