My beardie has been losing a bit of weight (weighed him today and he was 358 but his waste just looks a little boney), Anyways I’m going to start flukers reptiboost, I have been feeding him canned mealworms but I’m about 2 weeks till the prep work will be done to start a Dubai roach colony. I’m namely feeding him mealworms for weight gain but he just seems to refuse unless I “starve him out”. So I was wondering if I feed the rights about of it, according to the instructions sheet with weight, amount of water and repti to use, when do I feed it? Im aware to feed it three times a day BUT do I feed it to him sometime before his meals, with them, or after his meals? Thank you for the help!

Not sure on that specific product, but have you tried a different feeder insect? Superworms, crickets, silkworms, butterworms, BSFL?

You shouldn't need to be boosting his weight if he has proper temperatures and lighting, and is being given a healthy diet.

It’s just his appetite, I feel it may be partly food boredom. I’ve been feeding him a variety of canned food for the past year. But I think it may just be the food not moving that’s causing this. I have proper lighting with him getting uva and uvb and a basking light. And I got superworms and mealworms and cockroaches, to help with this weight loss. As well this flukers repta boost too, to get him to eat, I have 2 weeks till the prep work for a Dubai roach colony is done so I’m hoping it may help with him just not eating? He loves the canned ones, but they tend to be out of stock. I could make a more in depth thread about the situation with him, would that help?

Dragons typically do not like the canned version of bugs, and are much more eager to eat the live versions as like you said, movement is a big part of their eating/hunting experience.

Can you post a picture of him?

Yes of course! His name is Damien. These are from the last couple of weeks. His fat pads don’t seem too bad if only a little squishy and small. It’s been getting more and more concerning. I’ve notice this bad weight loss since late June. Also in 2022 of February before all this I undergone surgery and could not feed or interact with him due to that. I had to rely on family but for the 3 months they could not feed him well. I switched to canned foods from my initial live foods becasue they didn’t like the smell. But did break they to them recently to allow me to have a Dubai roach colony, considering it’s a good feeder and doesn’t have as much smell or runaway hassle. Should I just continue to try feeding him the canned foods I have till all the prep works arrive and I can start the colony instead of using flukers reptiboost?

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
