Hi Everyone.
This is my First post here.

I wonder if you would be able to help me.
I have read a Lot of Discussions on a lot of Forums, and I am not sure witch way to go. Would you please recommend your Advise to me, so that I can do it right, the First time around.

I have a Enclosure, the Lizard 1350 x 600 x 600
I'm From South Africa by the Way.

I am looking at geting a Bearded Dragon. My First goal, will be to set up the enclosure, so that everything is ready, when I go out and get the Beardie.

I Understand that the Size of the Beardie also play a Role, however, I want to set this enclodure up, for him to grow old with this setup. If I do get a Baby, I will grow him im a Smaller enclosure, set up fot babies.
I am planing on doing a Fake Rock Setup:

Ok, So here is the Main Issue I have. The Lightning Part.

There are so much contravercy on Lightning, that this is not funny anymore.

I want to know, what is the Ultimate Best Setup, for Lightning for Beardies.
How many Basking Sites are prevered, Witch UV light, and also for the Basking, is CHE the way, or sould I get a Infra Red.

I have read up a Little on the Mega Ray, and it seems like this is the Best UVB, but I am not sure..

Can anyone, please maybe advise the Ultimate setup, for a Healty bearded dragon, Even if I have to take 2 months longer, but get the Proper Equipment, this is what I will do..

I know that there are a Lot Of Threads, and People dont like to repeat, But I am seriously needing some concrete information, also maybe on Heating Pads, Thermostats, Electronically controlled thermostats, Etc.

Substrates, I have Curently layed the Enclosure with rough tiles, But I am planing on making a Sand Pit Area with correct sand /substrate, for them to be able to Dig.

At the moment, I just feel very lost, with regards to the Lighting Etc.

@ Beardie, can you maybe advise me of the setup, that was used for Cailyth.

As I believe you went through a Lot of trial and Error, and Ultimately managed to keep Cailyth happy for over 10 Years.

I will realy appreceate help on this.

Also, I have read a Lot of care sheets, but I dont realy find one, that has a Example Diagram, of what your lightning setup should look like ?

Thanks a Lot.

I dont understand ur measurments on ur cage. But it sounds big.

Id do 1 megarays and 3 normal hologen floods basking bulb = 3 total basking spots.

Id get 3 large full spectrum flouresent tubes.
Id also get a small CHE incase it gets cold at night.

Id set up all the bulbs on a Temperature controller with sensors.
So when it gets to high it atomatically lowers.
If it gets to cold it automatically get hotter.

Im thinking ur cage is extreamly large.
Id fill it up with play sand. and a a little section with tile where you do your feeding. Because tile just look like crap.

But if you do have such a large cage.. Why settle for a beardie. Sav Monitors are soo much cooler.

Do what im doing.

Im building an enclosure around that size.

I put 4 light sockets.

1)megaray 100watt
2)CHE (on a dimmer to the control heat)(usually on at night)
3)Low watt black bulb (ppl disagree with this but its for my VIEWING PLEASURE)
4)40 watt light bulb

Put everything on its own timer.
If you have the money. Get sometype of Temerature controller and hook it up to you che and your 40watt light bulb To regulate the temp.

As soon as you got the lighting set up. All you need to worry about is food.

Ist a preety simple hobby from what iv learned.

Thank You so much for this, Is there a Possible way for you to give me a Sort of diagram, where what is placed, with the Suggestion above.
Or maybe have a Photo of the Setup ?

Thank You

Ok, I have Just ordered a Mega-Ray European High Voltage (HV) SB 100watt - 220volt flood UVB lamp

Have not confirmed Shipping Details Yet, However I hope that it will be available before the 25th of December.

So with regards to the CHE, What is the best option to go for?

I was reading on this Heat Projector, See http://www.reptileuv.com/megaray-hp-60-watt-heat-projector.php
But it seems like this is only available in the 120 volt :-(

Thanks
