I got it and I love it. It's pretty amusing.

It's noisy, but it turns off at night so I can sleep without hearing it. It's really cool, nonetheless. Now I don't have to worry about the UVB much anymore.

All he needs is a basking light, haha. Any suggestions?

I think Rocket inhaled some water the wrong way. It's because I took him a bath 2-3 days ago and he got a drink of water from the faucet. He makes a gurgling noise only on occasion, and it doesn't seem so serious (I just hope it doesn't become a RI). He has no reaction to the noise other than a "swallowing" action. He doesn't act much different from that. If it was a RI, he would have had more serious symptoms.

Hello,

Sorry I missed your last post.
I am glad he likes the new UVB light too! Which basking light are you using, a halogen light?
If you think he could have any respiratory issues starting, you can keep his tank around 80 overnight to help boost his immune system. Just be sure his basking temperatures are optimal for him.
Is he eating normally?

Hello, I am using an 100 Watt Repti Basking spot Lamp from Zoo Med. I think I am...I don't know.

He's fine, now. He's not making anymore noises. Maybe I just picked him up too fast?

Hello,

That could be, because if they have had fluids sometimes if they are handled too much or their stomach gets smashed they could spit some back up.
That's good he isn't making anymore noises now. Just in case, keep the tank a little warmer at night for a week or so.
The basking light, is it a bright white light & not a colored light?

Hello,

Thanks. As far as the basking light, I recommend using a bright white basking light instead. Any colored type of lights are harder on the eyes since the UVA spectrum on them are not high enough.
A halogen is usually a great choice for a basking light.

How many watts should the halogen flood bulb be?

Also, this is the color of the basking light I am using. Is it good enough? (light is a lot brighter than it looks)

Hello,

Most of the time, 75watt halogens are plenty for 40 gallon tanks. Any larger, I would go with a 100 watt at least for basking. How is he doing now?

He's doing good. I fed him some collard greens and superworms, today. How's the color of the lamp that I showed you?

Do basking lights usually last a short time (3 months)?

Hello,

The color of the basking light looks fine to me. They should last quite awhile normally before burning out.
I am glad that he is doing well now! :D
It sounds like he is eating good also.

Hello, Tracie.

Rocket had a scare today. He was pale and his eyes were closed. However, they closed in a way that tells you "I need help" with the sunken eyes. He was having a very hard time breathing. I hesitated, but then I told myself, "Don't be an *****, do something!"

My mom and I poured cold water on him to revive him. He started pooping almost right afterwards. He opened his eyes and seemed half-heartedly alive. He was still pale with a dark beard. He was still breathing.

We did the cold water treatment again, with some warm water. He pooped some more. After the treatment, we put him down on the tile. He was doing fine. After about 10-20 minutes, his breathing became normal and his color returned to normal.

There cannot be any explanation for this other than old age and/or pain from poop. I checked his vivarium which was clean and had no sharp surfaces. He could have slept in a harmful position. The possibility of eating a firefly is slim to impossible. Fireflies are very rare around here and it would be even rarer for it to get in a house and it would be even rarer for it to get in the tank...

Hello,

Oh gosh, I am sorry to hear that, how scary!
Poor guy, I am glad that you & your mom were able to get him revived. I am sure that he was pretty scared about the whole episode, too.
Is he doing a lot better now?
If it was a firefly, he likely would not have made it as most die from the toxins.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
