Seizure and possible overfeeding?

Hi,
I just saw a very weird occurrance in my baby beardie. She's about 4-5 months old. Right as i dropped the first cricket in her cage, she opened her mouth and did slow motion move like she was going to run to grab it, but didn't go anywhere. Does that make sense? She lifted up her right arm and then her left arm, but didn't move. It was like she was in a trance. It only happened this one time, and she went on to eat regularly and is totally fine like nothing happened. I consulted my book and it seems as thought i can describe it as a seizure maybe? Does this sound like something others have seen? This is the first she's done it in the almost three weeks I've had her now. The book mentions calcium deficiency; however, I dust her crickets every day with rep cal calcium with D3, she is under a flo light with uvb and a basking light with uva. Doesn't seem like a calcium problem to me.

Also, I am concerned about over feeding her. How do I know if I am? She's eating 10 to 14 1/4 inch crickets every day, at one sitting. I can only feed her once a day due to my work schedule, unfortunately. I'm only giving her a cricket one by one until she stops. Am I over feeding?

The arm movents sounds like she was waving, rather than a seizure. I've heard of beardies getting a little spooked by live food and that could be the reason she waved at them.

You are not overfeeding- you should actually be feeding more. As she is only a juvie she should be getting fed 2 times per day, as much as she can eat in a 10-15 min period. This can mean she can eat up to 100 crickets a day- mine never ate that many though, maximim about 30-40 per day. I have a busy work schedule too- what i did when my beardie was young was to put her lights on a timer which came on whilst i was getting up and ready for work- feed her live food before i left (1 hour after lights on) then put her salad in and then feed again when i got home. Alternatively, you could buy some reptiworms- put them in a glass bowl for her to pick at during the day whilst your at work and then feed her the crickets when you get home. She must be fed more than 14 per day (once per day) or it can stunt her growth and cause other heatlth problems. :D

wow, that's a relief, i'm glad it doesn't sound like a seizure.

no way can she eat more than that!! that's insane! she is a little pig, but i seriously thought i was over feeding her. i'll get her some repti worms so she can graze during the day. i leave her some veggies while i'm gone for work. i leave my house really early, 6-6:30 am so its tough to feed her that early during the week. i'll try to work something out.

thank you!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
