Got an update from Joe. She is uncomfortable but not liking the pain meds. They are going to attempt to get her up today, I know that will be difficult for her. She just posted on FB with her cell phone, this is what she wrote. I couldn't believe it was actually from her. Hopefully soon she'll be well enough to post on her laptop.

I live sort of...thanks to all my wonderful people for you thoughts. Just relearning how breath again is rough but at least I alive and that's golden!

Wow! That's great that she was able to post on her FB. I am sorry to hear though that she is uncomfortable.
Getting her up and out of bed is a good sign, YaY! I'm sure it will be difficult, but at the same time it is a good sign of her recovery.
Thank you again Diane for all of your updates. We would be totally in the dark about Vicky's condition if not for you. You are an angel and a good friend to Vicky. :wink: I know how hard this has been for you. Hang in there sweetie... your friend will be back soon.

I'm actually doing ok, just worried about her, always anxious for updates and missing her a lot.

Another update, I just got off the phone with Joe, he is a great guy. He has been slowly getting the house ready for Christmas so she won't have anything to worry about when she gets home. The only thing she'll have to do is hang up her "special" ornaments that she puts on the tree every year.

She is still in the Intensive Cardiac Unit (ICU) but should be moved to a lower level ICU tomorrow or Thursday. He said the timeframe for the ICU for her will be about 2 wks total. All tubes have been removed and she no longer needs dialysis, her kidneys are working fine. Joe said she was in the best of moods last night, joking with a nurse, watching TV and Joe and her enjoyed sharing a container of jello. He was extremely pleased with the whole visit with her last night and you could hear it in his voice.

On Thanksgiving, Joe and James will share a meal with the woman who babysits their critters and fix a plate for Vicky to take to her later in the day. Vicky didn't want either of them to go without a nice meal, so that was the compromise.

He is sending our love, well wishes and prayers to her daily. She isn't quite ready for her laptop yet but hopefully will be soon. He asked me to call him whenever I would like, he's very easy to talk to.

So, that's the latest on our gal Vicky, she is doing great and getting stronger daily.

Diane, you must have read my mind. I was just going to pm you and ask had you talked to Joe and were there any updates. :roll:
It sounds like Vicky is doing better. I am so happy about the news that she will be moved to a lower level ICU.
That is so sweet that Joe is getting the house ready for Christmas... what a loving husband he must be. Vicky is a lucky girl!
That is too bad that she will have to spend Thanksgiving in the hospital, but I guess it will be special when her guys bring her dinner later that day.
