I love my beardie, but i dont take him out of his enclosure. He is still a baby and i am scared he will jump out of my hand and run away. His enclosure is in my bedroom and I have a lot of stuff crammed in my room. Do bearded dragons jump out of your hands when they are still babies??? :dontknow:

It can happen and they're quick. Let your beardy get used to you first by just puttingnyour hand in the enclosure for some time sonit can learn to trust you.

Thats what I have been doing. I didnt hold him for the first two weeks. I just pet him. For the past two weeks i have been holding him inside his cage. He seems to like me. He crawls up my arm but I wont let him get any higher than the cage is tall.

My room also has a lot of things for Tyrus to hide in/under, when he was really little I would let him roam my washroom. No way he could get lost in there, I always supervised him anyway but really he could only hide behind the toilet  When your walking around with him try wrapping him in a towel, they tend to feel more secure and less jumpy when wrapped up in my experience.

Yes the younger and smaller the dragon, the more jumpy and quick they are. Hold him in the cage and pet him. Don't be afraid, I know it may be scary at first but its a new experience for you and him! Take a towel in your hand and put your beardie in the towel and wrap it around him. They will feel more secure and won't be as jumpy. Then sit on your bed and keep a firm but gentle grip on him. He will squirm and try to escape sometimes, but that is just how young beardies are. The more you handle them the less they act like that. If you are afraid of him jumping off your bed and onto the floor and getting lost in your room. Bring him to the bathroom and sit in the tub or just sit on the bathroom floor. Not many places to go in a bathroom. Or at least in most bathrooms i think. Tehe :D

Good Luck!

I agree that letting them roam around the bathroom floor is a great idea. C: I always held my beardie above the bed, and he has jumped several times. He's tough, though! he never seems to learn!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
