Say Hello to STU!!

It has been awhile since i have been on here, i lost my last bearded dragon to a cat, the whole thing was pretty tough for us. However i was at the petstore and was just looking around and i was looking at the baby bearded dragons they had, the guy opened the cage for me and there was like 30 of them. One of those 30 jumped on the side so i put my hand to him and he climbed in my hand, i couldnt resist. I took him home and reset up our tank for him. He is different then my last bearded dragon, i just cant figure him out.

He sleeps upright most nights:

He is not as friendly as when i got him. When i reach my hand in to pick him up he runs from hand and opens his mouth at me? Totally freaks me out!!

Hello and Welcome! Just a little suggestion I have. My female Sunny does the same thing when my boyfriend tries to pick her up, but not to me. So I paid attention to how he tries to pick her up and what I noticed was he just sticks his hand down in the cage and comes at her at any angle to get her. He doesn't talk to her as he tries and of course she runs and opens her mouth. Well it makes sense because all she sees is a giant hand coming to get her, she doesn't know it's him because he's not talking to her and naturally she's afraid. So maybe try to pick up Stu from the front, so he sees your hand coming, talk to him while you're opening the cage and placing your hand in, and pet him first and then come from the front and pick him up. Like I said it's only a suggestion, and you may already be doing that.

well i just meant it as a joke, when i do something funny without knowing or have a so called "blonde moment" i get asked if im broken.....truth is i am very broken most of the time lol

Hello Fancy.... I had one of ours "Yenko" who when ever we went to pick him up he would scurry away and hiss and look like he was gonna bite... well actually he did get my fingers a couple of times... I just didn't give up... was very persistant... made sure that I gave him lots of attention.. that he was petted and not picked up all the time... when we did pick him up that we didn't rush to put him back in.. that he became calm before going back in... well, now he runs up to the glass when I come in... has started to climb up on my hand when I put it in and has become one of my snuggle bunnies. I'm sure as "fancy" gets a bit bigger she'll come around... as I have seen Yenko do as he got a little bigger. Good luck, Lisa
