most everyone here will say do not use sand as a substrate. Loose sand can become a impact for your beardies. As for the sandstone, that should be fine but the only thing I would personally appose to sandstone is that it is very porous, and bacteria, part of their droppings etc can be "soaked" into the stone making it a stinking mess, and may cause bacteria issues. If you do go with a sandstone as a substrate, look at having it sealed, but make sure the sealant is not toxic. Another thing you can think of is if you like the look of sandstone, I am sure they have non-porous "tile" in the sandstone look or other materials that will look like sandstone.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
