Hi folks,

didn't know where to post this so decided on here.

Are there any none-safe woods that cannot be used as decoration in a viv for beardies?? Just didn't want to put anything in and find it could harm Draco, is all.

Cheers in advance!

Ceder should not be used period, and if you use pine, make sure to coat (paint, or stain + seal) all the surfaces your beardy may come into contact with. Other than that, most of the readily available woods are safe (nothing "treated").

What are you thinking about using? Generally, anything that has a strong odor or that has anti insect properties (e.g. ceder), should not be used.

Ahh it won't be ceder that's for sure, as I'm pretty sure we don't have them in the UK. No pine, cheers, didn't know about that one, but it makes sense what you say about strong odor etc... and we were wanting natural, nothing treated so that's good too.

We were looking at beech, oak etc... (types of common English woodland woods).

Thanks for your help, it is much appreciated! :D

Beech and oak should be completely safe. For the record, and for anyone else reading this thread, avoid anything aromatic, especially ceder or redwood. Pine can be used if the contact areas are sealed.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
