Safe free range time?

Hello, my dragon loves to run around my room checking everything out, and I want to give him as much time as I can safely.

Right now I do not have a basking spot set up on floor level so I am wondering how long I can safely let him roam?, and if is even necessary to set up a basking area for when he is free roaming?

Just make sure there aren't any small bits that he can eat because they lick everything and explore. Small things like coins or pieces of plastic etc can be quickly eaten and cause issues. You also want to block off any areas you can't reach easily to retrieve him or areas that may cause a fall or harm. Once the room is dragonproofed go ahead and let him roam. I've found they especially like to look out the window so setting something up to allow that may be good. I have a dog bed in the window sill wedged on the back of my couch for my dragon to sit in and get window time. I also have portable basking spots set up but they aren't necessary. Just let him roam until he seems to get tired or curls up in a dark spot for a nap, then put him back in his tank to warm up. Having the portable lamps just lets them return on their own and warm up and then continue exploring.

Toothless loves to free range in the house , Rex and Puff loved it too , Peppa is our current snuggle - queen , she likes free ranging too , but most days prefers to have daddy snuggles , wheras with Toothless it occasionally he wants a snuggle .

The two BT skinks love snuggles too , but also love free ranging.

All my gang love looking out the front window , espec if the sun is out and beaming through the glass. Our front window is the same height and length as our front entry door so is perfect for the 4 legged scalechildren.

My 9 month old girl Iggy would sit on top of my couch and look out my large, front bay window all day long if I let her, even my parrots walking around don't phase her, she just loves watching everything going on in the neighborhood so much it's ridiculous. I can let her there for hours and she hardly moves. My 3 month old male is still too young and spastic to sit still for long, but he lives that window as well. My couch is the same height as the bay window ledge and is pushed up against it, so I put a blanket and a pillow there for them to lay on, propped up, and they love it. So if you have a window and can set some kind of ramp or viewing area for him he'll probably love it. And if it's sunny they do get heat and stay warm (UVB light does not penetrate glass so he won't get any UVB, a common misconception).

Thanks everyone ;-) he loves sitting in the window!! He is also young so he loves to run around to. He is just so darn cute!! I'm crazy for dragons and chameleons, and snakes... I guess I'm kinda crazy for anything with scales!
