Ohhhh Holly - I missed soo much. I just read up on Ruben and your dad. I'm literally crying at your loss. I don't have any words for you other than I'm sorry for your loss.

I'm sending you much love and hugs from soo far away. Just know you and yours are very very loved.

Holly, I just read about your father's death. I'm sorry this is soo late. I do send my sympathies. I remember when my father died, the sympathies I got were very helpful to me. I do know my father is in heaven with his Lord. When he died not a day when by that I didn't say "I miss you daddy" for about 4 years. I still say it but not as often. I know how you miss him. I am glad he was alive to see you graduate from College. Yes, it's too soon, but, to me when you loose a parent, it's always too soon.

Also, I'm sorry about Ruben's death. It must be really hard to loose both soo soon.

I must admit I have been away from this site for too long. I am sad to see many of my favorite threads are either locked or now have memorials in the titles...

I am going to have to spend a whole day catching up, but until then; I am deeply sorry for the pain you've gone through. It's good there is a community like BD.org to lean on.

Hello everyone.

Coming back really has reminded me how much ive missed all you and my extended beardie families.

Beardie Update:

Miso:

Little madame is doing well. She still eats like a tiny horse guzzling two salads a day and attempting to smash the glass when she sees me getting the worm tub out. She has also developed a love for NOMing my nails if they are painted. not once or twice, but until i remove the nailpolish from sight. smart cookie isnt she?

She basks like a good girl and still has retained mobility in her damaged front arms. She can even still give Billy a flirty wave. Minx.

She has settled at 18 inches long! 18 inches?! can you believe it? my tiny 6 inch 6 month old is now a little fattie.

Here she is in full beard-cushion mode a few months ago.

Billy:

Those who havent seen I am seriously considering giving Billy away.
Since his recovery he is a perfectly healthy boy, full of attitude and spunk, but with all the demands on my time he doesnt get the attention he deserves and has started to sulk in the shade every day until i move him down.

I absolutely adore my big beard, but i rescued him to give him the best life possible, not an ok life. With even greater restrictions on my time coming up soon I want to see him settled with a new slave to wait on him hand and foot. Its not a decision ive come to lightly, or because I no longer want him. Sigh. Being a grown up does suck some times.

Here is mr beard. A whopping 21 inches long and quick as a raptor across the carpet still.

Holly update:

Im currently finishing up resitting the exams I missed when my father passed away in February. I finish next week. They are really gruelling! Ive been in for 7 hours of exam every other day for 2 weeks. Not fun.
But it is means to an end. Come September 13th I will be a trainee Solicitor at long last.

I dont know if I mentioned it before, but I shall explain again the wonderfully serendipitous events surrounding where I now work (briefly!). I worked for a firm over the bridge from me in Scunthorpe for a summer and they awarded me a training contract (what you need to be able to work and train as a solicitor in england). A month afterwards my father put his law firm up for sale because of his failing health, and my firm decided to buy it. So now I am working in my home town, for my firm, but with half the staff from my fathers old firm, and both names are on the door. So in a beautiful way, i am carrying on my fathers work.
I always told my father id never work for him, but he got me in the end :]

Ive also met a wonderful boy who has held my hand through this last year. He lives about 3 hours away from me but is currently looking for work in my city so we can be together properly. Him finding work here would end a very painful year with some hope. So do put us in your prayers if you can.

Please let me know how all you and your creatures are. Im slowly getting through threads but its been too long.

Glad to hear your little Madame Miso is doing well. She's so big! :shock: I can't remember her being that fat previously! Which means you've been gone much too long, missy. :wink:

I'm sorry you're considering rehoming Billy. Hopefully you'll be able to find him a great home, if you rehome him. Gooood lord is his beard black! I miss those black beards. Obviously, my girlies don't beard, it's not ladylike. :laughing6:

Glad to hear you're getting through your exams, and going to work soon. I'll definitely keep you and your new boyfriend in my prayers. I'm not too spectacular.... buuut things have to get worse before they get better. MoMo is ill, and Gem can't keep weight on, but we're slowly working through it. Good luck getting caught up on all the going-ons. :lol:

Thats sad that you may be giving up Billy. But I admire the fact that you are being so selfless and considerate for him!! Somedays I think I neglect my little darlings... but then I realise they are never really on their own for a full day and as im home by 3.30pm at latest everyday, I still have plenty of time to give them all their baths and snuggles/free roam time!

Thats lovely that your working for what was your dad's firm! Im sure he would be so so proud of you!!!

Holly! So glad to see you! Wow, I cannot believe the change in Miso, she's huge! I understand how difficult your decision about Billy must be. I worry too about Lil getting the time she needs now that I'm doing school, work and an internship, but the thought of giving her up would destroy me :? . She seems to be handling it okay though, she's more or less put herself into a semi-brumation so she sleeps while I'm gone then enjoys a couple of hours each night with me.

Hi Holly, it's so good to hear from you and that your work is going so well. You've worked so hard, you deserve all that's happened to you work wise. Sept 13 is just around the corner, CONGRATS. I'm so glad you'll now be working in your father's footsteps. It's such a wonderful thing!

Miso and Billy look wonderful, I understand what you mean by time constraints, so I hope you find a wonderful home for him if that's what you decide. Miso looks wonderful & 18" :shock:

Our babies are well, Lonzo is 7 1/2 and slowly down a tiny bit. Sweetie laid 7 cluthes of infertile eggs so far this year, but she's doing well. Leo has gained a ton of weight, we call him Mr. Porky, now. He was skinny when we adopted him in Feb. Rubio is now 2 yrs old and huge. He's 21" long & weighs 786grams. We also have 2 foster beardies for a friend who'd gone to Japan for a year. So Roger is busy daily, he's now retired, which is great as I stil work f/t.

It was good to get an update from you. Prays and best wishes for your partner to find work in your area. Fingers and toes crossed, as well

Welcome back Holly! Don't give up on your Billy just yet. He will adjust to seeing you a bit less. Life will settle into a more regular pattern for you once exams are over and you get on a scedule at work.
Ahhhh, now I just know your dad is looking down and smiling at his "little girl" working at his firm. How proud he must be! I know this year has been hard on you but remember- steel does not gain strength till it has passed through the fire.

Welcome back Holly, it's been so long, I've missed you, and so hasn't Bella, Pyrex and Ollie..................I have 4 more beardies since then, :shock: Gabby, Lincoln, and Scarlett's thread is below, but Mica's thread is: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=128689&start=0

I'm telling you about my 7 babies because I hope you'll wait a little bit before re-homing Billy............I have gone cross country with my beardies twice within 10 months, and I have felt like the mother of all "neglect", at times, so please don't think you are, you have just been so busy, had alot on your plate, and things should slow down, and who knows, your new human love may need a scaly dog to cuddle too. One for each of you. (does he like beardies?)

Miss Miso and Master Billy are so beautiful and handsome..........I remember when Miso was a little peanut..........BTW, It's Bella's birthday today, I know you always loved her.

Thank you all for the updates and opinions but ive come to the decision to give Billy up.

I love my big orange beardy boy, but this year has made me a realist. He has been neglected all year with me constantly being away visiting my father, and then with exams, but my time will only become more precious when i start work. I will be away 8am-6.30pm every day, on top of this I have my other responsibilities such as checking on my mother, extra office work, studying for my on-going professional practice exams, the gym, a long distance boyfriend, trying to find a new apartment, trying to meet new people and make new friends here..... The list goes on. Basically I know I wont have the time to give both Billy and Miso the slave-time they need. I love them unselfishly, and I want them both to be happy and healthy. If that means letting Billy go I can do it. I would loathe to be selfish, keep him, then feel guilty all the time not giving him his loved run-around time etc.


Its been playing on my mind for some time now, and i decided I would only give him up if someone local could take him, and someone from this site. I laughed to myself thinking that would never happen, but a girl from this site who lives only a few hours away has offered to take him. On the scale of things being meant to be, Id put that pretty high up.

You might consider me selfish for doing so. But I rescued him to be spoilt rotten, and I cant do that anymore. I want him to be someones joy, not a stressed out girls chore. I know in my heart this is the right thing to do.
