I'm glad someone heard from her, and she's okay. I'm sure she is busy with work, family and her beardie babies. I hope she finds some time soon. :(

Sigh. Me too!

I guess we all just have to realize that Holly is different than us in that she actually has a life!

I do have a life, I just miss the old part of my life when I got up in the morning...poured my coffee and went into my computer room to get my early morning chuckle from Holly, and procrastinate as long as I can until I have to do something. Now, I actually HAVE to do something..lol. And I do worry about her if someone doesn't hear from her at some point..so I guess until she posts again, we just have to try to be patient. At least she's okay.

Holly, I just got my copy of Veronica's book "Beardies Around the World", our Issy has 2 pictures in it and your Miso also has two pictures. They are all wonderful, I'm really glad I got a copy. I've been looking at it over and over, Veronica put some great sayings on each page. If anyone wants to check it out go to http://www.beautifuldragons.com and follow the link on the 1st page. Miso was alot younger, but the pictures turned out so crisp, you can see all her colours. Issy is on the back cover waving, she was 5 mo old and caught a glimpse of Rubio and started waving away. Miso looks very mischevious in her pictures, what a sweetie. Hope all is well with you, Mark, Rueben, Miso and Billy. Wish your dad well for us. Hope to hear from you soon, Holly.

Take care
Deborah and Issy

Hello everyone!

Firstly, a huge appology for disapearing off the face of the earth. When people say "im so busy i dont even have time to log on" i finally understand what they mean!

Personal update:
It feels only right that this one comes first considering I owe you all some kind of explaination!
Well I started doing my Legal Practitioners Course in September, which has me absolutely rushed off my feet. I travel 2 hours out twice a week to attend college. The other days I do extensive work and research along with online tutorials (9am-8pm each day usually). I also have to take 4 mini-exams during EACH BLOODY WEEK which gets emailed to my tutors so they know Im not only doing the work, but doing it well. Brutal right? On the plus side my fellow trainee's and I get on really well.
On top of this im working one day a week at my firm of solicitors (thats right! I officially got the job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!).
Then we pile on lizard duties, girlfriend duties and family duties and you can see my point!

My father is now past a year since his diagnosis (his birthday is this friday infact). We recieved news at the end of the summer that his cancer had spread, which we were devestated by. Since he has been on an extremely high dose of chemo but has been doing really well. He is now happily retired.
This week particular week however my father is feeling very unwell, and the specialists have moved up his scan to next monday. Results will be a week from that date. We are praying and praying that the cancer has not spread further. That is all we can do.

Needless to say im dragging myself through life with a forced smile right now. But I still have faith.

Monsters update:

Miso:
Miso is an absolute fatty now! She is still tiny for her age, but has grown dramatically. She will now wolf anything down, locusts, supers, crickets. Everything as if she hasnt been fed in days
She is still a fusspot about her salad. She wont touch it unless there is rocket in there.
The bright yellow in her beard and sides have really blossomed too and are almost electric when in "good mood". She is still persisting in flirting with the boys.

Billy:
Billy Billy Billy. What can I say? He's a maniac. He runs like lightening and does everything on his own agenda.
It took what seemed like forever to get him to let me hold him. All he would do is climb up my chest, onto my shoulder and then leap into midair! He still does this 50% of the time when SIR is not in the mood for snuggles. But he will now curl up on my chest or snooze in my lap if he is in the mood to coperate.
He has grown around 3 inches since coming home with us.
He will eat absolutely anything. The funniest thing would be strawberrys. He wont eat them sliced, but hold a full one infront of him and he will recoil and launch at it like a python! I just have to hold on tight whilst he OM NOM NOMs at it so he doesnt get the whole thing.
Since he was on a diet of pinkies and woodchippings at that beastly shop so even though he is around 9-11 month mark we are feeding him more salad than protein because he has alot of fat stores and he's edging towards being a fatty.
He is also getting into big-boy boots.

Ruben:
Oh Rube what can I say. He is worrying us sick at the moment.
His livefeeder eating was slowing down since the end of summer, then his salad eating finished too, now he eats nothing :(
He did not lose any weight but has started too recently. He still has fat pads and tail stores, but he isnt as huge as he once was.
Im syringe feeding him twice a week only in the hopes he will start eating on his own again. Twice he has decided he'll have a bug or two, but then he's gone back to refusing.
Our exotics clinic is in difficulties at the moment with its staff travelling around the country, so we just cant get him a weekend appointment with a specialist. If this goes on much longer I will have to take a day off and take him in.
Any input guys?

He is still very boisterous and loves a good headbob, but he isnt the same boy right now.

I will try and get some photos up asap but it depends on my other half (i broke my camera).

I missed this community so much when I was away, but I felt guilty logging on because I couldnt stay long enough to give any updates.
I will try and make time for this.
I hope you are all well. Please let me know!

Lovelovelove!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS
Deborah:
I completely forgot about the book!
Im so excited Miso made it in. I wonder which pictures she chose. I gave her about 50 hehe!
Moneys tight at the moment? Is it worth buying?

Hi Holly!

We have missed you so! Sounds like life is in the fast lane for you and I hope it slows a bit somewhere along the way.
I think of you often and your father too, of course! I hope his new scan will bring good results. I will have my fingers crossed for him. You know he is always in my thoughts. I will continue to stay on this difficult journey with you dear Holly. I know you understand where my heart is in all this. You are in my prayers!

Glad to hear Miso is an eating machine and getting some fat  That Billy sounds like he needs to join the circus with all of his aerial acrobats

Have you considered Ruben might be trying to brumate? It's just a thought. Is he sleeping more along with his refusal to eat? Rex is doing a semi brumation and I am lucky to get 5 superworms into her in a week. Forget the salad... she's not doing it!

It's so good to hear from you.... keep in touch!

(((HUGS)))

I was so shocked to see this had been updated!!! But I clicked straight on to see whats been happening. I hope things are ok with your dad...

Ruben could well be trying to brumate... at least he isnt like Kazi who I have been force feeding since before Abu passed away... and that was in July!!! On top of that, Kazi has only pooped 3 TIMES since then... they are forever worrying us!

I would be a little concerned tho if Ruben is losing weight... if he is brumating, he shouldnt really lose too much in that entire time. I would def get him into the vet tho just to be sure he is ok. Its best to do it soon tho - before he goes into a state of full brumation, just to be sure he is in full health before going for his winter sleep!

Hope life slows down a little soon!!! We miss your updates!

Hi Holly, you sure are busy, I've been praying for your dad that the cancer hasn't spread, so know we're thinking of you.

As for the book, it was worth getting. It cost us $40 Cdn with shipping & we got it two weeks after ordering it. The pics are beautiful. There are two of Issy (she's on the back cover) and two of Miso. Jason's L.G. has two pics, too. There are pics of beardies from Sweden and Holland, as well as England, Canada and USA and there's a beautiful close up of a wild beardie in Australia. It's well put together. We got the soft covered book as it was less expensive, we're tight on $ too, with 5 beardies and a gecko.

Thanks for taking the time to update us. (((((HUGS))))) to you guys from us guys.

I can understand how concerned you are about Ruben, I think a trip to the vet would be good, just to make sure he has no parasites, as that will stop appetite and cause weight loss. Issy went through the same thing this past spring, and she's better now.

Take care, all of you,
Deborah & my zoo

I'm just so happy and relieved and excited to hear from you. We all guessed you were very busy..I just didn't realize HOW busy you were..oh my word!. I will continute to pray for good news for your Dad. I think another visit to the shrine won't hurt. Congratulations on getting the job forever full time..I knew you would..lol.
I'm glad to hear the babies are doing well. Poor Rubes. It sounds like he's ready to brumate. Speaking of brumation..LOL..
James took Sakura in to the vets because she wasn't eating, wasn't moving..she just wanted to curl up under her blankie in her hide and sleep. Sakura is a year old now, so James thought he'd take her in to have her checked for peace of mind, and before she started brumating..make sure she had no problems, right? Right. First off Sakura is not a SHE..she's a HE..yes, that's right, our baby DIVA is a HE. I was so shocked I was speechless..and you know me..that NEVER happens..LOL. Then the Vet said to James she doesn't recommend allowing HIM to brumate in this part of the country, because it does them more harm than good. I could understand that in the case of a dragon who was sick BEFORE they went into brumation..but Sakura is healthy..he's just gearing up to brumate..so that just set me off..So I promptly proceeded to PM Drache..because by this time James and I were BOTH freaking out..like losing sleep and my ulcers are back freaking out..LOL.
But, Drache ressured us that as long as HIS ..(I can't stop doing that..LOL) tests came back good, there's no reason for us to deny him what he was meant to do naturally. All of his test were good..his x-rays were good, bloodwork, fecal..everything..so James cancelled the appointment to take him back in there today, and unless anything major happens, we're just going to roll with it..LOL..And yes, even though our baby girl is now our baby boy, James still wants to keep Sakura as his name, I know it sounds weird, but that's what James wants, and I respect that...lol..
So that's my tale on this end of the puddle. Crazy isn't it?. I'm just so glad you're okay, busy but okay.
Hugs across the really big puddle!
Beth

HOLLY!!!!!!!!

Ive missed you so!

Wow it sounds like your life right now is so hectic! I'm glad your work is going well. Happy birthday to your father :D I hope everything goes well with his tests hes in my thoughts and prayers.

Miso sounds like shes well on her way to a giant lol Billy sounds like our kinno well when he used to zoom. The way you decribed Rube is the same thing Kinno has been doing for a few weeks now. Hes hiding and trying to sleep all day he wont eat much of nothing for us either. I bathe him every other day and try and hand feed him worms he will only eat 5 to 6 and thats it for a few days. He still has his fat stores as well his colors good. Hes lost 10 grams in the last few weeks. I think its brumation. But this will be my first dealings with it so its scary for me.

(((((hugs))))) Im happy to see you posting!

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
