Rocking a dragon to sleep

This is as odd as the title states. I got another Beardie for my birthday and he's still geting use to me. Slowly but surely. Well, tonight his bed time came and the other dragons went right to sleep in their hammocks and blankys. Him on the other hand did not want to. I put him in his hammock with his blanket and he squirmed, hiss and got out. I tried again, he did the same thing. Well I tried putting him on the chair in a blanket and he got so mad, he was hissing, panicking to get out and sounded like he was coughing (which I never heard.) He now uses a 12.0 Arcadia UVB and a basking area of 101. I decided to put him in his hammock with no blanket. He just hopped out and started scratching the glass. The lights were completely out and he was still going crazy. I have the heater on because it's snowing outside so it don't get below 75 at night. I took him out and put him on my chest, put a blanket over him and ssshhh'd him and rocked him (stupid I know but I guess my motherly instinct kicked in.) He fell right asleep so I tried putting him in his hammock to sleep again and the fuss starts again. I laid him in my bed under the blankets and he's out. Sooo...what do I do ? I absolutely know it's a big NO NO to sleep next to a dragon but he won't sleep any other way. I sleep in a queen and he's on the opposite end of where I'm laying at the bottom. I built a fort of pillows around him but he's still under the blanket. I'm afraid to move him because he throws such a hissy fit and may put up a fuss again. When my other dragons are out, they are out, they don't care if you touch them or move them but he on the other hand is a different story. You touch him and he moves and hisses (eyes closed and everything.) He's driving me crazy :/ Are there any other options?

Aww, sounds like someone is attached to his mama! :)
I think the main reason it's not recommended to sleep next to dragons is the risk of accidentally rolling over and squishing them. But it sounds like your little guy is pretty protected. :) (Plus, if you want to be extra-safe you could even put him & his blankets in a small basket or container on your bed).

But if you don't want a dragon bed buddy, I think they're like kids and will eventually settle down and go to sleep in their own beds. Not 100% sure on that one though, especially since we got both of our dragons as adults.

Yes, very true, they will learn, my old man learned when he was about 4 months I believe.
It's been so long since I have trained him to stay in bed. But if he will not cooperate
with you then get a basket/container small one bundle him up and make the inside of the
container/basket whatever you use with soft towels or blankets, my dragon LOVES soft
things and you can put him in there...eventually (maybe) he'll wanna be in
his own bed as he gets a bit older. My boy loved me so much the first time we got introduced
he never wanted to leave eventually I did sleep with him in a small box LOADED with soft towels
(didn't have blankets at the time). I did stick the box in his cage after a few nights of sleeping
with him. Maybe he'll get the idea that he needs to sleep in his cage so he's well protected.
Just make no noises and move him very slowly and if he wakes up just well...rock him back to sleep.
Good luck dear, sounds like your dragon may just want to
be your bed buddy.

The blankets just must be where he feels safe - give him time, he's just trying to get accustomed to his new home. After all, he's in very different surroundings than he was before you got him. He'll get used to it as your other beardies did, and everything will be fine. :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
