This may be the first "documented" case of a female beardie reabsorbing eggs. I have heard people say they know a guy that knows a guy that it happened to but this could be the first actual documented case (least that i have seen)

Well I certainly dont think she could still be holding eggs at this point not and be acting/eatign as well as she is so she must have reabsorbed them.I just cant believe they could be fully developed eggs.I dont know maybe she never fully shelled them then reabsorbed.This is certainly one for the mystery books.I guess we will find out more when Michelle can get her in for another XRay.Michelle leave it to Jojo to once again throw us all for a loop! :wink:

Well, maybe Jojo did reabsorb them, who knows, maybe she should be in Guiness Book of records. She likes doing things "her way." If she had laid any that broke or even ate any, she would have lost some weight and that she hasn't done. Her coloring is good, her eyes are bright and she has a great appetite, so those signs are certainly all good ones, so I guess you're right Michele, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." :lol: Dr Sean always told Michele that "Jojo is a puzzle" even to him.

I know that Michele won't get a chance to pop in tonight to update this thread, so thought I would for her. Jojo is still the same, happy, great color, pretty active and eating VERY well. We're thinking that she must have absorbed the eggs as there seems to be no other explanation. :?

that is amazing to me. I have never heard of a actual case of re-absorbtion of eggs. sure i have heard stories of "i knew a guy" or "a friend of a friend" but never actually followed a thread where it happened. Thats amazing to me. learn something new all the time.

Glad to hear she is healthy n doing well.
Malibu seems to just accept the fact that shes an egg laying nut.She looks good bounces right back to eating 15 supers n 2 salads a day till she lays again..she is the mild mannered beardie at the momment basking on her log in the last warm days in the window cill.

Hey guys,sorry its been awhile since I updated (thanks for doing that Diane! :wink: ) but I have been so busy and have alot of things going on in my life.
Like Diane said Jojo is doing great but isnt showing any signs that she is going to lay eggs. She is up to 700 grams though! :shock: I recently started cutting back her live feeders.I was going to take her laybox out of her cage but she enjoys it so much :mrgreen:
I guess Spyder is right...this is the first documented case of reabsorbing eggs. Jojo has never been one to follow the rules,(LOL Vickie)! :lol:

Dave I hope your Tegu lays soon. Can they reabsorb eggs??

Thanks for the update Michele, you're going to have to let your vet know about Jojo. Wow 700g :shock: Glad she's gained the weight, maybe she's just incubating for a long time? Either way, stay in touch, I've always enjoyed pics of Jojo. Sweetie just shed her front, back, beard, head and back legs. She's out basking in the sunshine and I'm hoping she's off the egglaying bit until spring, she's sleeping lots and not eating as much, so she may actually brumate this winter. Hello Michele,

So, it appears Jojo has reabsorbed all of those eggs huh? If she has not laid them by now, she isn't going to, or it is highly unlikely that she is going to now.
If they were not shelled, she could have reabsorbed them. I have known one person that was a member on here awhile back, whose 9 month old female developed follicles, & did reabsorb them. She was fine after a month or two of reabsorbing them.
Jojo is doing well right now, correct? If so, I would just take her in for a little check up when you can if you don't see any emergency at the moment. Did she finish with her shedding?

Thanks Deb and Tracie. Jojo is doing fantastic. I weighed her lastnight and she is 716 grams. I need to put her on a diet :lol:
She runs to the glass as soon as she sees me go towards the cricket tank or worm bin :shock: She is also eating her salad almost every day.
