So sorry Leslie, but I think you're doing the right thing. You've made Oscar's last few weeks better than he could have ever imagined and made a huge difference in his quality of life. And now it's time to let him have his peace.

Unfortunately today is Thursday and it's already dragging and I've only been up for 45 minutes.

I wasn't prepared for what they asked me when I made my appointment - "what do you want to do with his remains?" ugh

None of my students asked about him yesterday thank God because I might have lost it. Hopefully I can make it today without anyone asking too.

I've been thinking of you and Oscar this morning. I hope he goes peacefully. He is SO LUCKY you found him and took care of him. You had him eating superworms and exploring your home. He got to have his own tank and not be bullied. That is so sweet of you to give him. Take care today.

So sorry u went through this it was no where near your fault at all u saved him gave him a better life a second chance and every thing happens for a reason and this reason was someone abused a beautiful living creature and that's why u found him so u can give him a second chance and live a happier and better time so sorry I was ready to break a tear two post up u did all u can

Dear Lesley,

Thank you for rescuing Oscar. I don't think I would have been as brave as you were that day in the pet store when you saw him. Oscar needed to be saved and for some reason, you were chosen to take on this task. He probably didn't know anything but unhappiness until you found him. He spent his last days loved and cared for by a very special human being...YOU. All the pain of the past was wiped away when you took him into your arms and out of that store. I'm sure he knew..."This time it'll be better." And it was. You did more for Oscar in the short time that he was with you than he ever had his whole little life. I wondered the day I watched the video of him walking around, if he had ever even done that before...felt freedom to move or run? Well today, you have given him a new freedom. I would like to imagine that he's crossed over to a place full of beardie happiness, with warm sunshine and fence posts to bask on! Grassy fields to run in and endless superworms! As much as we wished he could've stayed longer, it was time for him to go and you rescued him again... Today too, you were probably much braver than I could have been, just like that day in the pet store. I know it will take a while but, I hope your your heart will stop hurting soon and you will be able to smile once again when you think of Oscar. <3 <3 Rest easy Oscar... I'll miss you too. <3 <3

Awww Lesley. Thank you for sharing those pictures. Even with his black beard, he still looked content. And thanks for letting us know that he is gone. I'm so sad that he couldn't be saved.

Wow, I just read this and it broke my heart , sorry for your loss, but I am so happy there are people like you out there, who do their best to give animals a chance. You did all that you could, and beyond, know that your were the best beardie momma for him.

As a side note
Seriously, who the heck would ever give another animal to this person, that is so infuriating, and well beyond belief, I am so worried about the fate of this next dragon that was given to this irresponsible owner, it truly saddens me.

I am very sorry for your loss. Oscar was so fortunate to know he was loved so dearly during the last chapters of his life. May the tears you shed leave soon, and be filled with wonderful memories and smiles for that is what Oscar would want for u. Thanks for sharing your and his story! RIP Oscar
