Hello!

I rescued a bearded dragon from a mutual friend about 2 week's ago.
When we went to the person's house to get him I knew right away he was not taken care of well.
They told me that he was only fed mealworm's and he had no UVB's basically his entire life.
He was never fed veggie's so he is kind of eerie of them now.

Over the past couple of week's I have been feeding him dusted cricket's, I put 2 UVB's on his terrarium so that its always on contact during his Day cycle, and have been getting him to grasp the concept that vegies/fruits are food too.

Thing's seem to be getting better but I want to know about his scale problem.
He literally has green scale's. They don't look like a fungus, they have no odor, but I'm not sure and that is why I'm asking here.
To me it look's like he is way too far behind in shed's. Almost as if he has layers of skin in some place's.

I have tried giving him a short bath but he hates it.
Anyways! Here are some pictures!

I have a couple of rescues. One, her name is Lemon, has a similar shaded area. She looks like she has bikini bottoms on. I asked my vet, and he said it looks like she had a she that was prematurely pulled off, and her scales discolored from it. The part on your dragons head looks like a part of a shed left. Baths and a soft toothbrush are the only helpers, but do not pull of the she, allow it to come off on its own, and it can take a while so just be patient. When I say take a while it can take 6 weeks or longer for a dragon to shed all the way, and the head is the hardest part for them to shed, it also aggravates them. So I know your dragon does not like baths, but they are the solution. :| Just in case you do not know loose substrate, such as sand also causes issues, so I would change that. You might want to give a run down of your tank set up to make sure you are doing everything to have the healthiest dragon possible.

AGREED mswanda! Its def shedding spots. my brothers beardie had the same thing going on when he rescued his from a bad situation as well. Frequent baths, (lukewarm water) proper uvb, calcium dusting properly should all do the trick in time. No worries! Glad you were able to rescue him! :blob5: :blob5:

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
