I have to order some reptiworms for Dude today.
Does anyone know if the large reptiworms turn into flies more quickly?

And since reptiworms have a lot of calcium, how often should I feed them to Dude? I'm wondering if I fed them like regular feeders, would he get too much calcium?
Should I feed them to him every day? If so, how many?

Thanks in advance :)

Yes, the large reptiworms turn to flies faster then the other sizes. I would suggest you buy the mediums since they aren't much smaller and they'll last longer.

You can use them as a staple, but they're tiny. I tried doing that with my lizard and it would take a lot to fill him up. If you feed reptiworms, you won't have to dust them with calcium, only multi-vitamins.

The amount depends on how big he is. I'm not a big fan of them because they're so small. A better staple for an adult would be butterworms and silkworms since they're much bigger and will fill him up.

Do butterworms and silkworms have an exoskeleton? And do they need a special setup? I had to switch to retiworms because Dude can't digest exoskeletons anymore.
Dude is about 17 inches including tail and he's about 6 or 7 years old.

Would a combo of retiworms and butterworms be okay? I don't want to get silkworms because you have to buy special food for them.

Butterworms and silkworms don't have exoskeletons. Butterworms can be put in the refrigerator and don't require any food/water. You can mix repti-worms and butters if you'd like, just don't give him any extra calcium since they already contain tons.

Where do you get your silkworms from? I was looking at mullberry farms but they seen to be extreamly expensive. When you get them do you get the eggs or the worms? I have been intrested in getting them for a while now but dont know much about them. :?:

There are quite a few places to buy silkworms. Most of the prices are the same. You can buy them from Lindasgonebuggie or Mulberry Farms and their prices are only a dollar or two off. You can buy the eggs from Mulberry's, but its easier to purchase them in a pod. They are sold with or without habitat cups that contain both food a shelter. They are susceptible to germs and bacteria, so you can't handle them and you have to make sure no mold grows on their food. It sounds quite difficult, but it really isn't. I personally love silkworms and like to use them as a staple for my beardie when I get them.

Thanks for the info! I was reading about hatching them from eggs and it seemed involed. I might try the cups that come with the food soon.

Are butterworms too big for a baby? If so how long should I wait to try those? I am going to be trying phoenix worms as soon as they come in and if they will be too small for him when he is older, I don't want to invest in a wine cooler. If butterworms will be fine in my regular fridge, that sounds awesome.

I've tried Crickets, repti worms, butters, horn, wax, silk and suppers for my 8 month old dragon Levi and I really like the butters and horns but would have prefered to know that horn worm cups needed to be kept upside down and elevated.. My bad. But I thought to pass that along just incase you got some. Butters are terrific , like Reptiworms have very little maintenance but the silk worms took a bit more care. A cup of the silkies opened during shipping and in the recon mission of collecting the refugees, I apparently got germs on them or the box and many of them died. I recently ordered 400 butters from Elliots butter worms and he offered the best deal overall. One more thing.. They can be quite small at first so maybe you can request small butters for the baby :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
