Reptisun 10 vs Megaray 100

Well im building my cage as we speak.

Im wondering if i should keep the Megaray 100 or switch it up for a reptisun10 24".

Im rethinking the megaray because my beadie will have to be at ground leven to get proper uva/uvb in a 4x2 feet cage.
If thats the case.. Might as well build a nice basking spot and watch the beardi climb and bask under reptisun 10.

Dose it matter if i get the 24" or the 36" because only a small part of the bulb will be actually at the hight recomended (basking area)..
Whats the point havein this extra length when the uva/uvb wont have any effect?

Also. If i dont get the megaray. I plan on getting a 150 watt flood light.... for the basking area.
Dose that sound about right for the basking area? Also plan on putting a 75Watt light for some extra heating.

Will that heat up my Crossfire type set up. I have somewhat cooler room temperature (Canada)

Well im in the UK (cold but not as cold) and i use a 60w bulb for my basking spot, and dim it so its only about 50w.

I know what you mean about the mbv bulb, thats why i stayed with the UVB strip and seperate bulb, it also give greater flexability when trying to get the temps right.

As for the UVB, i would always recommend it go at least 3/4 of the way across the tank (i.e a 36" one for you) As yes, only a smal part will be 6-8" away, but if like me you have lots of thigs to jump/climb on they can get UVB all around the cage. I think the 6-8" is optimum for a basking spot, but other leves around the cage would simulate shaded/not direct sunlight etc in the wild, just an educated guess but there you go!

Any who, i would think the 150w bulb would be a little much. I would start with a 100w one, and see what temps you get. It dosnt have to be a reptile bulb, the normal houshold bulbs (if you can still get them over there, they have stopped doing them in the UK) are perfect.

i say mega ray, you just need 1 mvb for heat and light and bam good to go

I just drilled in 3 fixtures.. so....... im leaning towards the retisun... Or i might run a modern look to my beardie cage instead of natural if i stick with the megaray.
