Reptile Super Show in San Diego: June 27 - 28, 2009

I went there today. It was definitely worth driving all the way from Los Angeles! I got a cool vine tree (?) for the cage and 2 cups of silkworms. But more importantly, it was so much fun just being there, checking out various interesting animals (and people)!!

I finally went and the experience was OK but overall it made me kind of sad I guess I wasn't expecting to see almost full grown beardies closed up in a plastic tub with a lid on it :shock: I kept asking my hubby if they could breathe (common sense told me they could, but my eyes were contradicting that).

The gargoyle geckos were pretty interesting :shock: I had never seen one. I have a leo (which I love to death).

And Nexiest, I noticed your comment about LLL Reptile. Which store are you talking about? I've only been to the one in Escondido and that one is super clean... probably one of the cleanest most organized pet stores I've ever seen. My hubby has stopped in at the one in Oceanside and he said that one isn't so great, so I have to wonder if that's the one you are referring to :dontknow:

I figured as much :shock: The store in Escondido is a bazillion times better. The few times I have been in there I have not seen any more than 2 adults in one cage at a time and I believe they were male and female... the next week the female had been sold so the male was in there by himself. All of the reptile cages seem to be kept up. Even the baby cages don't have roque feeders everywhere.

As I stated previously, my hubby stopped in the O'Side one and he called me saying that we would not be shopping at that one.

LLL has to know about that store! its damaging to their name. I hold LLL as one of the best reptile supply shops around. I have yet to go to either of them, as I live in scottsdale az.

One of the things I really like about them is that the prices you see on line are the same as in the store. And if they advertise something online and it's cheaper than in the store, they will sell it to you for the online price. Pretty cool if you ask me.

We currently drive all the way up there from Imperial Beach (about 40-50 miles) when we need something. But we will be moving to Escondido this month so they will practically be right around the corner :mrgreen:

Not to be an a** but this thread was not meant to judge/trash LLL. If you have a problem with the company/store, please take it to an appropriate thread.

I'm sure the OP was not intended to lead in this direction.

So how about that show????

Personally, I see it as a problem when they allow one of their stores to mistreat animals, and another that doesn't. Fortunately I moved back to riverside for work a few days ago, so I'll be shopping at strickly reptiles.

I just don't feel the need/desire to support any shop that mistreats their animals at any location.
