Repti Glo 10.0 Floursent Bulb ( Cons )

So today I got a 18inch repti glo 10.0 15w bulb Not Coil for my Beardie Just wanted to get some imput on it.

Repti Glo's are very unreliable. They can either a) not produce enough uvb b) produce too much and harm your bd...

believe me ive heard horror stories about these..you need to get a Repti SUN 10.0 those are the best..no need to spend a lot of money go to petmountain.com and you can get them for an inexpensive price. I had a reptiglo..within 2-3 months it flickered and went out..i had no money at the time so i had to keep rotating it in the light fixture trying to find that sweeet spot to make it turn on again..it was rediculous..just dont get any more of them..get the reptisun and make sure that you replace it every 6-7 months..it says a year..but we all know that is not true lol.

if you have a reptile show coming up in your area..its a good time to get the highest quality items for the least ammount of money..i just got a reptisun 10.0 24inch for about 22 bucks..my local reptile store sells the bulbs for 50 dollars!!! i got a spare for less than half that..just a tip.

Yea I mean The petsotres were I live dont have repti suns so I out of luck U asked people at petsmart what they have in there tanks and they said repti glos same as I got so idk.

ya..well mainstream petstores are not the most reliable when it comes to info believe me..i had my baby bd on sand because thats what the guy at the petstore said to do...which we all know is very bad.


ask anyone on here they will say reptisun is better compaired to reptiglo..i think there was actually an article on it too on here not that long ago.

they dont have reptisun in the petsmart or petco's either i think its too expensive for them to carry..but like i said if you go to petmountain.com you can find them..i think lllreptile has them too for sale

you can use it..but its not the greatest..the one experience i had with it was bad.. and ive heard even worser stories. im just trying to help you out not argue with you or upset you with a battle of wits and knowledge.

i would recomend replacing it with a reptisun 10.0 the next time you buy a bulb..and like i said the stores might not cary them but you can get them online and they are sooooo much better for your bearded dragon.
and a basking bulb should have nothing to do with this because the basking bulb does not give off uvb. it gives off heat. you have the 10.0 reptiglo for the uvb..they are very unreliable thats why i would recommend the reptisun when you replace it..because your bd can develop bone spurs and mbd when not given the right amount of uvb.

Yeah man I got you Im not arguing with you I was just saying Im sorry if I came out like that. So youre saying its good but not the greatest right? well I have 50days untill I cant return it so If I dont see any imporvement then Ill return it. I did see the bulb at Petco for 40$ so Maybe ill get that this weekend if I get Paid.

So, Today I got in my car. I was so un happy because I kept buying the wrong Bearded dragon stuff, so I called up Petco. And I aksed them If they had any Repti sun bulbs 10.0 28inch one. They were like yeah there on sale. I was like sale ? She said that there moving and the bulbs are not $4.00 USD. Yes I just said $4.00. I was like =o so I went there and Bam all reptile items were on sale I almost bought up there whole supply of Repti suns.

The reason for the importance of using the bright white basking bulb in conjunction with ANY UVB, especially this particular bulb which has a history of problems is that the white light from the basking bulb constricts their pupils and reduces the possibility of overexposure to the eyes. Using the white basking bulb, plus making sure the dragon can't get closer than 12" to the bulb is the best way to use this bulb without problems. However, the quality of UVB he would receive is still sub-standard compared to the Reptisun.

But, wow, Reptisuns for $4?? You should have gotten them all!

its all good man, i apologize for taking it the wrong way as well. No worries.

As for the bulb i use a bright white one and i have the uvb bulb closer to it..only because on one side of the tank you want them to be able to get out of the uvb if they want..kinda like if they wanna crawl under a rock ya know?

i didnt understand that thats why you use a bright white one with it. i understand now, sorry about that..but ya, i was just trying to stress that the light needed to be changed.
but ya i agree, for 4 dollars a piece..i would have loaded up!!! hahahaha :mrgreen:

That rule only applies to the Reptiglo, for safety reasons. If you are using the Reptisun, 6-8" is fine.
