While I agree vet care is always priority I am not sure I can agree with your statement that if the reptaid does not work then it is automatically something horribly serious. In Tom's case it just didnt work for him, simple as that, especially knowing him as I do vet care was not an issue in this case nor was his husbandry.

I also said this before as well. I have tried it on several occasions and still have had no good luck with it! In my opinion it just did not work. And I doubt I will use it again. Sorry if I stepped on any toes. :D

Just want to add a thought.
Reptaid helps with infections, parasites, and general immune system boost.
If an animal is exhibiting symptoms of illness such as lethargy or lack of appetite and energy, incorrect coloration, sunken eyes, then it needs something obviously.
If after a serious use of Reptaid there is no improvement, then the problem was not as simple as parasites or infection. Very likely there is a chemical imbalance like a calcium/phosphate problem in the blood, due to improper supplementation or diet. Or there is a dehydration problem or incorrect temperature issues. Or something simple like a worn out UVB bulb that is not emmitting enough because it is old and needs to be replaced.
In our experience when we had an animal which was not responding to Reptaid, the next step was a trip to the vet for a blood workup. Of course this is expensive, like $100 just for the blood work. But the vet can tell us what is out of balance and what needs to be corrected. That is invaluable information that we as breeders and keepers cannot possibly determine in our own facility.

Elliot questioning Toms care is far from what needs to be done on this. Reptaid is a herbal booster and it doesnt work for everyone no need to get defensive over it. Toms care is top notch and he spent a few hundred dollars on vet care with apollo trying everything and nothing worked. Its not his care its just your product didnt work for him. It wont work for everyone nor should you expect it to. I am a proponent of its use but its not going to work 100% of the time nothing can and nothing will. Even with me knowing its ability in some cases, if one of my dragons was severely sick my first stop would be a vet to find out whats going on not reptaid.

Thanks to the people who just saved me some typing in regards to My husbandry.
Elliot, I simply put in my experience with this product. It was lackluster at best.
Im sorry if my experience didnt fit in with the commercial theme the thread was taking, but if you want a commercial pay for the time and space to have whatever you want in it.
From my understanding this is suposed to be a discussion on if this herbal mix is any good.
Im ok with having tried the product, but to rant and rave about its mircles non stop makes the pros look like a pitch for snake oil.
For Me and Mine it just didnt work. End of story. My husbandry is top notch. My yearly vet visits make my vet send me Chritmas cards.
If everyone that has had a negative experience or like in my case NO experience with the product was treated the same way I know understand why this thread reads like a commercial.

I certainly was not trying to offend.
I do not know your experience or expertise like the others on the forum.
And I meant it in a general sense.
so I just want to ask, did you get a blood workup done on these two dragons you mention for which Reptaid did not work? If so what were the results?
Of course as Brian says, reptaid is not going to work for every animal. But they are few and far inbetween.

the female tom was having issues with (if i remember correctly) was a respiratory infection and apollo it was never determined what is wrong with him. There was a barrage of tests run on him and nothing was ever determined. it is felt that it could be something viral though what is unknown (least last i was told it was unknown.

Brian pretty much summed it up.
I dont spare expense in the care of My animals. Espesially My breeders.
They are my workers and My pets. Like I said My vet loves Me walking in his door.

I have read some threads where it didn't help their beardies either but unfortunately they didn't post in this thread. One example I very clearly remember was a 10 day treatment on the Reptaid and the beardie didn't improve. A fecal was taken to a vet and it was loaded with pinworms so the Reptaid didn't help in this case either.

Ok here is one link but there are more then I thought. This isnt the one I remember specifically.I will have to look for more later:
viewtopic.php?f=61&t=99473&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&hilit=reptaid+pinworms
Actually after reading a few of these other threads I am not sure how effective a 10 day treatment will be for pinworms it seems more often then not it hasnt been that succesful with them and I dont know that extending the treatment would be safe.

looks like we both picked the same one vicky lol

in my opinion Reptaid is a good product but a lot of the success that is seen in the more severe cases is due to a culmination of a number of changes. The reptaid helps to boost the natural immune system but often this is coupled with better husbandry and more sanitary conditions than previously held. I think this is a great addition to any rescue program or to help assist an animal through relocation stress or coming out of brumation or bringing their natural system back into normalcy but in severe cases its not very effective on its own. I am still a proponent of its use as I have seen what it can do for some animals but no it is not the final answer in dragon health care.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
