Hi all,

Has anyone had any experience with mites? Skipper has a few red spots on her body and tail. I'm not sure what they could be. I searched her enclosure and didn't see anything that looked like mites, and no spots on her body seem to be moving. I think the spot on the tail could be from a blood drawing at the vet.

Hi Skipper....some dragons will have a random dot of a different color here or thee. Can you watch very closely to see if they move ? Can you take a paper towel dabbed in a bit of olive oil , then dab it on those spots ? That may lift them off as they stick t the oil. And check around the head, mouth ears....mites like those areas because of the moisture near the nose + face.

Thanks for the advice. I can't see any movement. I don't see anything on the head. I also bathed her yesterday. Shoudln't this have caused them to migrate to the head? I think you are right about them ring random dots... they look more like pigmentation or a stain than like a bug.

Do you have a good picture of what mites actually look like?

I don't have a pic, but if you Google red mites on lizard or on bearded dragon you'll find some.
