I have had my new beardie, Jubal, since Sunday. He is my first reptile pet. My son had a leopard gecko, but he kept him up in his room and I didn't have much interaction with him. So, Jubal is my first. Jubal seems pretty healthy and active. He is eating well and his poops seem normal.
I'm sure I will have tons of questions, but let's start with this one. Is it normal for a beardie to kind of just drop where ever he is and sleep? I mean, he seems to just nod off where ever he happens to be when the lights go out.
I turn a moonlight on about 15 minutes before his lights go out so he isn't plunged into darkness so suddenly. Then, I turn it off about 15 or 30 minutes later. By then, he is usually already sleeping. The first night, he was strewn across the horn of his skull decoration with his head and one arm pressed against the glass of his enclosure. The next two nights he slept on his basking area. Then, last night, his back half was on the ground and his front half was propped up and pressed against the glass again. It looked most uncomfortable, like he was going to try to climb the glass and passed out.
Honestly, this guy sleeps like a passed out drunk. Is this normal?
Thanks! ~Lissa
