Awww Kaleen, what a wonderful vacation you had! I can't wait to hear more! And Michelle took care of your babies, then they're in very good hands. It's great you were able to get away, what an awesome time you had with the sea turtles. It sure has stirred my imagination! So glad you and Jeffrey were able to get away!

Hahaha Gina! I am glad you don't really hate me...
We don't have an underwater camera, too bad because I would have loved to have those memories in a photo forever! I'm not sure why but while I was there I totally fell in love with octopus. What an amazing, intelligent, and graceful creature plus they are pretty cute too! I made friends with one I saw, he kept changing color to match me, mostly my hair, it was funny. I surprised myself at how brave I became underwater. I got right up to those fish and other marine animals, I was also mindful and respectful of their space and environment and made certain not to touch them or the reef. If you do touch the reef it kills it where you touched it, a younger guy in his early 20's didn't listen and touched the reef, he got in big trouble. The water was so crystal clear, you can see everything for miles it seems. Once you see something interesting and get in to it you start swimming pretty far, and don't realize how far you go. It's crazy Jeffrey and I actually lost weight on this trip because of all the swimming! My whole body is sore, we also went ocean kayaking in Lahina which was hard work.
I will post pictures of the portrait Michelle's daughter drew of Pees, he seems to like it  It's cute, she even drew his sort of stripes on his back! She also wrote out the word cute lizard! I love it!!

Sounds like you had a wonderful trip and that it did you a lot of good to get away, even if you did miss your babies.
Looking forward to seeing the picture!

Hi Kaleen, I just had a member of another forum asking what a savannah monitor's diet should be. Said she's feeding calcium covered supers. I had no idea what to tell her, so thought I'd ask an expert. I'll let her know I've asked you. Thnaks Kaleen. Hope you're feeling well.

Hey Deb, Supers are great snack but should not be the main staple for the savannah. We feed Walter ground turkey meat mixed with egg dusted with calcium as his main staple. We also mix in crickets, roaches, horn worms, super worms, and on occasion as in once in a blue moon give him mice. As beardies do, Savannahs also need variety in their healthy diet. We take Walter outside in the natural sunlight everyday, and we do not feed him in his enclosure. They are very intelligent and learn quickly, if every time you open the cage you put food in, that's all they will expect so they may become aggressive.. Walter knows when we open the cage it's to pet him or mist him or time to come out and play. He is very welcoming and accepting of our presence. We feed him in the kitchen in the same spot in the same green bowl. He knows when the green bowl is on the floor it's feeding time. Jeffrey has also trained Walter with a clicking system, three clicks is come, two is stay, and so on.. They are sooo smart it's unbelievable! I am no expert by any means, I learn something new about monitors everyday. An incredible forum for monitors and all correct information on care giving is Varanus.net Jeffrey and I learned all proper husbandry and training skills to correctly take care of Walter. It's sad most people are informed incorrectly, and the monitor does not make it passed his first year of life due to dehydration and poor husbandry.. Anyway I hope some of my rambling has helped..

Hi Kaleen, what a wealth of information & explains why Walter is so well taken care of. I'm going to copy this to the forum I was where I was given the question. It's good to hear from you. Hope all is ok with you. Big hugs to you all!

Thanks Deb, it's nice to hear from you too. I am doing the best I can right now and just trying to maintain and stay positive. For whatever reason my health has taken a turn for the worse and my body is not responding well to treatment. I think it has something to do with the fact I've been going through this for so long my body has developed a sort of immunity to the treatments. At this point I am on strong antibiotics to hopefully prevent pneumonia, if I do develop pneumonia I will be hospitalized. I'm weak and have zero energy and feel scared, but as I said I am staying positive. My babies have always comforted me when not feeling up to par, but I am limiting my contact with them right now because I don't want them to get sick. I know that sounds weird but I worry about these things. Sunny and PeeWee are stressed out because they know I don't feel well. They do well for a couple of days but then they throw tantrums and destroy their cage so Jeffrey is forced to take them out. As soon as he sets them down they make a mad dash to find me! When they do they climb up and snuggle in to me, and when Jeffrey comes to retrieve them they beard at him and everything! It's pretty endearing and sweet! I am so lucky to have such loving reptiles! Even Walter comes to say hi! I do have good days when I feel normal and well, but I get so excited about feeling well I end up doing too much and pushing myself too far. It's an exhausting cycle I just hope I come out of it sooner rather than later..

Aww Kaleen, I'm sorry to hear about that. You're going to have to really slow down for your health & family's sake, so you don't get pneumonia and end up in the hospital. And as far as I know it's not possible to pass along an illness from a human to a dragon, but just in case, you can always wear a mask. I have to wear gloves to handle Titan, as he's still fighting Yellow Fungus. It's not the same as snuggling with my hands, but it's necessary so I don't pass it along to the rest of the gang, but I can't get it from Titan. Have very strict protocols in place and he gets lots of supplements along with his oral med and anit-fungal cream. He's fighting hard, too, just like you.

So go easy on the days you feel normal, just so you don't burn out. You've fought so many battles, it stands to reason that your body is getting immune to treatments. My heart hurts for you, Jeffrey and your babies. I'm praying for your return to better health all the time, hope it helps some. Snuggling with your crew will just help you take it easy. I really do wish I lived closer so I could help you out, even though I know Jeffrey and your friends are there for you :D Stay in touch as you can. If you have a minute, check out the latest pics I posted, along with a video of Gabriel trashing his tank, he thinks it's spring already and it's all for Didi's sake, they can see each other now that I switched Gabriel and Titan, so Titan is in my bedroom now in quarantine and Gabriel is within sight of Didi in the living room. You should see the two of them trash their tanks, running back & forth, trying to get through the glass so they can fight, it's hilarious to watch and just gives them lots of exercise. All of my crew are up, it's as If no-one is into brumation this winter...but that will come probably.

So take really good care of yourself, k? Hugs to you, Jeffrey and your crew, from me and mine.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
