We brought Batman home when he was just two weeks old and today he is 10 weeks old and 10.5 inches! His tail started to shed again today...I think he's going to be a big guy :)

First night home: Keegan (my 3 year old human) and Batman!

Looks like chubby little Vraska is finally dropping the grams to where they should be!

Flashy must be growing a lot since he's shedding so often.

Aw, does mommy drive you batty, Batman? Just kidding! Swear!

Oh it's true, Liz. I drive him just as crazy as he drives me! Yes Vraska is looking beautiful! Her weight and colors! She just shed so she's extra bright! Flash is eating his steady, same amount and continues to grow. I'm so impressed with the thickness of his tail. They're starting to look more and more alike, other than the few obvious things. It's very encouraging.

Really great news about the expo us that Jeremy and I hand agreed to decor shop, look into breeders, check out healthy reptiles but not bring anyone home. We decided next year we will go to a much larger one in the warner months in a fun location to make a long weekend trip.

:)

Ok,

Diane, gonna have to PM you. Jeremy said if you can walk us through it then he's more than willing to trim Batman's nails. He's that guy in the family. He's pretty much up for anything!

I don't know how he does it. He doesn't see things or think of them the way I do. He's so confident and easy going with all the reptiles. I wish I could have that confidence! I'm good...just not in the way he's good. I can totally "handle" Batman when it comes to just about anything including syringe feeding food or meds. God forbid he poops in the bath when it's just me, though. Haha!

So, he's going to do the nails :)

Tell Jeremy I said good luck! Jace is my only good boy for nail trimming but I like the results better from the dremmal the vet used over nail clipping.

I just watched the YouTube video...says I can also use a nail file after the trim. Hopefully that'll help? Got plenty of those!

I just sent you an instructional pm. You probably won't need to use a nail file but if you want to give him a perfect manicure, go ahead and try that.

Just responded! Only 2 questions, I think!! Thank you for walking us through it! I know to most of my "thread watchers/commenters" probably think it's no big deal, but as a first timer...it makes me nervous!

Why is this all you want to do, ever?! He holds on for dear life! I have to pry him from this and it's not in his basking spot...

null_zps41982b59.jpg

It WAS his basking spot but he chose something different for days...do I move the darn thing?!

Edited to add...since he wouldn't let go of the stupid thing he ate NOTHING today, for the first time in a while. Not a single dubia or a leaf of greens.

He really like that stick. I would move it, and adjust how it sits until the favorite spot to sit on is the basking temps you want him under.

He looks tired & confused in that picture. I have to agree that moving it under his light would be a good idea. He's claiming it as his own and doesn't want his mommy to take it out & do anymore trimming on it.

He's a pain in my butt. I had THAT as his basking spot but he chose the other one for 2 days...now he decided he's never leaving that "thing" that he wraps his arms around and dangles his legs from to sleep.

He was ALL sexy legged this morning and I waited an hour and a half for him to "go to the light" and he wouldn't.

Why? Honestly. He just loves a battle. That particular branch has a round nub at the top that he insists on hanging from. Jeeeeeeez!!!

Edited to add: Liz, I'm referring to him as bratty more than Batty lately. Just when no one else is around.

Are they all this stubborn? Is this part of his newfound attitude?!

When they pick something they like, they won't leave it out of sight(or grip). It might also still be at that age where a minimalist viv is best still-a hide and a basking spot and a hammock and that is that aside from dishes.

Thresh only has her basking spot, a toque, a hammock and a branch and she rarely leaves her basking spot. Only to eat her greens and poop. She'll sleep on it if I let her, too. I put her on her hammock or the toque after night cuddles.

As I explained in my pm Kristine, the behavior your seeing is typical of starting puberty. He's testing you to see what he can get away with. It doesn't last long, I promise.

I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer 🤣
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
