Okay ,So We went to the Reptile Show and ohhhhhhh My gooodness,There was I think 5 or so really good breeders-Seller's there and about 10 real losers there and I mean losers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No body was selling any baby beardies except one couple that had 2 common ones ( I am just calling them this for now ) in aluminum pie pans with no napkins or air holes nothing .A 5 yr old was selling them with the couple and He knew more about them then the couple did.The guy tried to tell me they are about 6 weeks old and I wasn't going to argue with the guy because I knew they were not .They were only about 3 inches long if that and super tiny.I BEING THE DUMB CARING OPEN HEARTED PERSON I AM GOT SWALLOWED UP AND BOUGHT ONE FOR 25 DOLLARS BECAUSE I FELT SO BAD FOR IT.IT WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY DARK GRAY AND BLACK FROM ALL THE STRESS OF PEOPLE AND KIDS PICKING THE TIN UP AND SHAKING THEM.So on I go walking around and I find this female or so it said in this little clear box all twisted up adult by the way in ceder bedding that swelled like old rat s*** and pee.I feel again $%^&%*(&^% SO I ASK THE LOSER if I could hold Her and He said sure She was a rescue ?!?!?! FROM WHO ???!?!?!
OKAY,He said He had Her for around 10 mths and that He thought She was about 3 yrs old ???? okay whatever (I don't think He really knew) He had all kinds of reptiles on stinky bedding that He knew nothing about when people was asking ! He reminded Me of a buy and sell to make a quick buck or maybe get them for free on like craigs list and sell not sure but reminds Me of the type because as I stood there and Held lola thats what I named Her yes I bought Her :) I listened to Him talk for a good 30 mins to people and He was lieing to them I could tell. :angry5: This poor Beardie smelled so bad and was so cold She cuddled in to My chest and thats all it took even though I could barely stand the urine smell I let Her stay there .He wanted 100.00 for Her and I offered Him 75.00 and He took it. We bought some crickets and dubias some super worms and left from a different stand .I took of My bra off in the car and put it in the pie pan so the baby would not get toasted in the aluminum pie pan and thought about what I was going to do all the way home.I only had one cage ready and that was for a baby never planned on Lola but We are trying to make do.I give Her a bath as soon as I got home. She smelled to bad and bathed the baby because as well as Lola They looked dehydrated. Not sure but ?? Lola ate a big bowl of salad and was so happy She has not stopped eating yet :) The Baby well a cricket or so a day ,It is not doing so well and is so tiny :((( Lola has a broken tail or something right at the very tip and looks like bad skin like old bites ,scares maybe ?? The Baby has a bite on its back that I did not see until I bathed it.Please any help with these rescued guys would be appreciated !!! Remember I am a newbie and Toothless is doing great thanks to You all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But any suggestions or comments .I jumped in way over My head and now I am in deep .But They needed Me and now We will help Them ...My heart give in to Them .Pictures to come and the baby I know is a hatching what do I do ? Lola's skin How can I help Her ? Thanks all You are All the best and I new I could come to You all .I will never go to another show again it was so bad I could sit here and cry .there was some good stands but the few that I saved Lola and the baby from and some others were awful.I cannot write all things I want to tell You all but You would have saved Them too if You had the extra money and time .It was awful .How do They even let Them sellers set up stands.Thank You all :(

was it the taylor michigan show? I know that one was over this weekend so that's why I ask. The only help I can give is, if you need to get vet help for them go to Dr. Tim at the birds and exotics wellness center. He was the head vet at the toledo zoo for many years and he is great. My only complaint is their vet tech/phone girl never calls back about results like she is supposed to :( Good luck with your new beardies, it was very great of you to try to help them. Also if you need extra nutrition for the two new girls they will give you a bag of crit care for a decent price. Let me know if I can help at all too. I'm in over my head right now with kitten fostering but I know what it's like to save an animal and feel over your head, and would love to try to help.

Yes, I too am curious about what show.

Those two are lucky to have found you. Unfortunately there are some bad people out there. With the baby, I would try Phoenix worms and waxworms to convince him to eat. They are slower moving than crix, so should give the little one a better shot at nabbing them.

Good luck!

Hope I don't get in trouble By the Mods but yes it was the Taylor ,Mich show and Like I did say There was GREAT STAND that took Great care of there reptiles (a few) But there was more bad then good and I do so wish I had never gone.I wish I had just waited and traveled to a more rep able show like the ones in Pennsylvania but I did not and now I don't think I will go to another. It was sad and it made Me feel like I needed to save Them all because that's the type of person I am and I realize some could have just turned and walked out and demanded there money for admission back.I am a quiet set back person and I choose to take My extra Money and spend it on saving these two.Maybe I made a mistake but maybe I made a great companion.reptiles in sh** and pee filled rat pine bedding is not My idea of taking care of Them sores on a new hatchling is not good and in a aluminum pie pan in 82 degree weather in the inside of the place and outside in the sun 90 at least to a newbie whom did not know it could have baked that baby.Lola with patch's of bad skin and so hungry She ate 20 crickets 5 super worms a bowl of salad and 2 large dubia the hour I brought Her home after traveling in a car for a hour and the guy traveled a hour to get to the show and She was in that mess for I don't know how long also after I bathed Her .Forgive Me if I hurt anyone's feelings but some of those stands at that show SHOULD HAVE NOT BEEN ALOUD TO SELL ANYTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh dear, well done on saving them. Have you got another viv yet? For the baby I'd say try some baby food if he won't eat anything, and baths everyday for them both

I think the wax worms and baby food idea just to get her appetite rev'ed up are great ideas. Just don't bother going to pet supplies plus for wax worms, they only carry meal worms because wax worms are too unhealthy  I think its great you saved those guys and I'm sorry that I even suggested the Taylor show :( If I had known it would be worse than cleveland I never would've brought it up. Thanks for being an awesome beardie mommie and saving some babies that could've ended up in worse situations

I almost went to this, glad I didn't. In the future, I hope to be a Vendor there. Maybe it will turn around by then.

I go to the Taylor show every month and vendor there. I didn't see what this person saw. The show is actually usually fairly good. There weren't nearly as many vendors this show because of the big show in chicago on the same day.

I didn't see the 2 baby beardies mentioned though (first show where I didn't see ANY really). I only saw maybe 2 or so adults. Both looked decently fat and healthy.

Maybe you scooped them up fast or I was blind. I'll have to take a closer look next time. I had about 8-10 people come up to my table and ask if we knew anyone selling any beardeds. Usually there is a son and dad that sell very healthy babies but couldn't make the show. I only walked around a few times. Keep in mind though, a lot of the shows do have people that yes, shouldn't own animals, let alone sell them. Actually I've yet to go to one where ALL the animals were in proper containers/not crowded. People are here to sell their products and animals, you can't have huge containers/enclosures because of space limitation. But I agree with you, some of the setups were not good enough. Some of these vendors were new this month too (likely because the usuals were in chicago so more tables were open).

My word of advice would be to contact the show head and file a complaint with where abouts the table was, what they were selling and how they were kept. I think I know what table you were talking about with the beardy in the pan (sort of one of the middle-ish tables?). Like I said, I didn't get a chance to look around much.

I am sorry you had such a problem though.

The ones in PA aren't that much better. The last one I went to in Oaks the only good breeder there was Tom, Chris and Dale! The other couple were Dragon Fortress which had beautiful dragons however I've heard not so good things. Maybe they've changed idk. One other breeder was selling dragons and every single one had mouth rot! Thats terrible! They were also selling a silkie which they advertised as a leatherback - clearly not a leatherback- for around $600. It was in terrible condition. Yes it was a silkie but it was clearly not well cared for. There were also tons of really tiny babies all stuck in little plastic containers with aspen. Ugh it disgusted me. Most of the other shows are decent though. Idk why this one wasn't

Okay going back to this subject, Sorry But yes I believe the person with the baby beadie brought the 2 babys out in pie pans just as I was leaving and I happened across Them because of the children I seen shaking the pie pans and this seller had tons of live rats babys pinkies for 30 cents and then all in a plastic bin tons of live pinkies and up from there fuzzy babys in a bin and then bigger size in a bin ? Remember them ? They had 2 beardie babys and thats all the baby beardies at the show I seen !! And the adults there was a pair of breeders at the front and they wanted 300.00 for them and Yes,They where Beautiful and very healthy but WAY IN THE BACK a man with plastic square heavy sliding things had Lola and You must not have seen Her because She was on the pine bedding and looked very sick, very sick and under weight !! Right in the same area as the rats and the baby beardie persons ? Also I wanted to take a minute and talk about the GREAT VENDERS THAT WAS THERE and well maybe I was a little to upset about Lola and the baby at first and should have taking a deep breath and waited a minute before posting. I Reacted to harsh but the venders I got Lola and the Baby from really should have not been selling anything !!! Knowing that,Let Me tell You about the Dubia Roach's--- I got, Lola has been eating Them everyday since I got Her and is starting to pick up weight and Her color is getting better ,Her poop is Better and I own it all to this company http://www.midwestdubia.com/ They where a vender There and I really did not have time to talk to Them there but like I said since I have had Lola these people have been the BEST.They are a member on here and have answered all My questions and helped Me with the Dubias in every way WHAT A GREAT COMPANY LOVE THEM SO ORDER ORDER ORDER THEY ARE GREAT !!!!
Also, there where other good venders there like I said in My other posts but I was so mad over Lola and the Baby. They cannot tell over the phone what a vender is going to be like but it is on them if They get letting Them come back to the shows and sell When good paying customers are complaining!!

I'm sorry for your experience. I've been to a few bad shows myself, but you cant let it detour you from all of them, as you'll never agree with everyone and their care of animals. Do you have any pictures? I love seeing pictures :)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
