I have enjoyed my leatherback 1/2 tailed rescue beardie so much, I'm considering getting a "fancy" morph. What I really want is a hypo trans leatherback. But in searching around for one, I found the "highlighter yellow" citruses and really liked them, and a breeder that has a clutch due 6/15 which should contain super citrus leatherbacks. I contacted them (they've been around for a while) and they explained they price their babies using "color quality"...Low color $150 to "collector quality" $500. I was interested in the mid to high $250-350 range as I might consider breeding in the future (I currently breed Panther chams). A few things are making me nervous...One parent is 100% citrus normal scale x 100% citrus leatherback. So, only 1/4 of the clutch will even be lb. So, they say the majority of the clutches are low quality, with a few mid to high and maybe 1 collector. I asked for examples of adult representations of the difference between the $250 and $350 animals and they said they "can't provide that" um, what? What I'm concerned about is buying a mid - range baby that ends up a pale yellow/tan, like my first citrus female was 8 years ago (but I only paid about 150$ for her at a year old). Both parents are fluorescent yellow...so I'm guessing I'd get a descent, but not blinding yellow adult, but for that cash I could get a hypotrans lb that I really want! The reason I'm hoping someone has dealt possitively with this breeder is they take payment plans...and being on disability, I can really use a payment plan! I'm not sure if I can post the breeders name, so I'll wait for an administrator to let me know if I can. Thanks!
