Okay E has been doing great but in the past 2 weeks or so he has no interest in eating. He's drinking water and moving alot but just has no interest in food, not his veggies, fruits, worms or crickets. He has been pooping reguarly but I have noticed him basking closer to his light then normal. He has a 70 L tank with a UV light a 40 w basking lamp and a ceramic heat emitter. Mike and I are just worried about his not eating. Also he is being very curious about getting out *actually tried to jump from his rock to the top of the tank last week* and we are worried about letting him roam Mike's room due to the cats and him hiding somewhere. Any suggestions?

Hello,

What type & brand of UVB light are you using? Is it a flourescent tube bulb or a compact or coil light? How close is he to the UVB light? How old is the UVB light?
What type of basking light are you using, a bright white light or a colored light?
Do you use calcium?
What are the temps in the tank & what do you use to measure the temps?

I don't remember how old Eragon is. Could he be ready for a shed? My dragons are grouchy with a shed and eat less.
If you want to let him run around outside the viv safely, maybe you could use the bathroom. That is what we use for small dragons so they can't run off and hide (and if the door is closed your cats can't bother the dragon.) :)

Hi Tracie-
It's a slimline ESU Reptile UV UVB 15 watt bulb it is suppose to have 3% UVB and 7% UVA and a fluroscent lamp, and we got it Jan 26th. His UV lamp lays on top of the tank and we have a 70 long reptile tank. His basking light is a white either 40 or 60 watt basking lamp. The temps normally run about 90-100 in his basking area and 70 on the other side, and we use the temperature gauge from Wal-mart inside outside on. And yes we dust his worms since lately he isn't interested in crickets, and I normally add some to his veggies when I do his food.

We aren't exactly sure on how old he is, I wish I knew how to post a picture on here. We've had him since Dec and he's at least about 16 inches. The only problem with his bathroom is that's where the cats litter boxes are.

I am not sure that is a good uvb bulb. There are only a few that we have not seen health issues when used with dragons. You may want to turn that bulb off for a few days and see if E picks up in his appetite. The best tube bulbs to use are the Reptisun 10 linear bulbs.

He had been eating like crazy when we first started giving him superworms, I could even "bribe" him into eating his veggies but now he ignores all his food. We put him in the tub for a while last week and he seemed to enjoy that. I'm going to try to post these pictures but I don't know if it will work or not.

I can't post the pictures on here but these are the links to pictures of my baby.

Well, the litter boxes can go in the tub temporarily. :) I have a dog that has to be with me 24/7 and who is big enough to trash the doors if I don't let him in from the back yard. ;) So I let Oscar run the hallway blocked off, or the dining room blocked off, or the bathroom with doors closed. I have to do this because he is being a nut and constantly wants out of his viv. My daughter will sometimes sit in the bathroom or dining room with him. This is harder when you have cats, unless you lock them in a bedroom for a some time while the dragon runs around.

Hi again, We are still having issues with "E" eating. He is pooping normally but he is digging in his sand, staying on the cooler side, refusing to eat, sleeping alot and is really worrying us. He's not asking to come out lately, we turned the uv light off temporarily and moved him in front of the window to try to increase UV. He actually seems more sleepy since moving him.

Ok, I'll have Mike cut the light back on, someone had recommended shutting it off for a few days to see if it was a "bad" UV bulb. His temps are ranging as always 90-100 on the basking end and 70-80 on the cool end.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!

Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
