Prolapse????

Hi,
My bearded dragon hadn't pooped for about a week or two so I got him in a warm bath and massaged his stomach until he pooped. He defecated quite a bit, and I was happy until I caught sight of his vent which was very red. After he finished the red skin went back in his vent and I did not manage to get an image. His vent looks fine from the outside, but I am worried. Can anyone help?

Good thing it went back in ! Can you give a rundown of his entire set up, exact brand + type of lights as well as the temps. ? Temps. are important for digestion. Is he on sand or anything loose, what does he eat and what size, and how is he hydrated ? Feed him softer foods for a while, bugs are O.K but not large ones.....cut large ones in half [ horn or silkworms are O.K because they are super soft. Offer unsweetened applesauce or canned pumkin [ no spice ] + a few drops of veg.oil and/or honey every couple of days [ natural laxatives ] to be sure he has an easier time pooing. Offer water via syringe/eyedropper as well for extra hydration.

My bearded dragon is in a 40 gallon tank with a concrete hide and log. He has a zoomed 75 watt basking lamp over his basking spot, which is between 95-100 degrees (I use a thermometer with a probe) and a reptisun 10.0 uvb light. He is on tile, though his old owner kept him on sand (I got him off it asap, and this was about 5 months ago). I keep a bowl of water in his cage, but he doesn't drink it much, I usually keep him hydrated through baths. I feed him calcium dusted watercress and dandelion greens (mostly watercress as it is what I can find most of the time) and crickets. I used to feed him superworms but stopped a few weeks ago out of fear of constipation and impaction. He's a good eater and hasn't shown any disinterest towards his food. Thank you so much for your help and quick reply, I will get applesauce/pumpkin right away and give him some honey or vegetable oil!

Would you recommend phoenix, horn, or silkworms? (none are readily available where I live so I will have to order online)

He'll probably be fine eating his usual diet if you add extra hydration and a bit of the natural laxatives I mentioned. Silk + hornworms would be fine too, you can order both from linda's gone buggy or Google other suppliers.

I think your dragon will be fine though.

Ok, thank you so much for all your help!! I'm a bit paranoid with his health, as my last beardie died of yellow fungus
