Problem with Thoths vent :( *picture*

I posted this in Health and thought id post it here incase anyone knew what i need to do for him.

Thoth only went poo one time since we had him witch was last thursday(7 days to poo). And it was alot and i mean alot of poo. I gave him a bath after words because his urates looked like chalk. Even with him getting a 10 min to 20 min bath everyday due to him not going poo. I have been bathing him everyother day 20 mins since he pooed. Well i go to take him out of his viv today and i felt something where his vent was. (please forgive me for the picture) At first i though ok hes pooping but i looked really good and seen this ....

I take really good care of them all and havent seen this before but i think its his penis. He hasnt went poo since last thursday either but MaryAnn says his normal pooing is every 4 days. Kang goes everyday. What should i do for this? Gah i feel so bad. I had him out yesterday but i dont normaly looks at their vents. I dont think i payed any attention because he has huge femoral pores and they always poke me. Hes eating like he normaly does hes acting normal nothing with him has changed thank goodness.

Hello,

That does appear to be a prolapse, though I am not positive it is a hemepenes, it is hard to determine, but it is dark in color.
It could be a colon prolapse, or intestinal or rectal prolapse.
It does not appear to be a urate plug or seminal plug which are usually tan or lighter in color.
What you need to do is soak him in some cool sugar water. Dissolve sugar in warm water, then, add cool water. This can help reduce the swelling of the area & maybe get that area back in. You can use some KY jelly or vaseline to help keep the area moisturized so hopefully it will not become necrotic.
He will need to see a vet, especially if it does not go back in on its' own.
I think it was caused by his hard urates. Do you give any oral fluids? Bathing is good but does not always fully hydrate them. You are going to need to start giving extra oral fluids for him, daily. Does he eat plenty of vegetation?
How much calcium supplementation are you giving him?

I'll start soaking him now and after ill put the vaseline on it. He actually gets alot of oral fluids. He drinks from the bath every time i give him one. First few times i thought he wouldnt stop drinking. I just started fostering him for MaryAnn 2 weeks ago so im new to him and his history. Hes 2.5 yrs old i think. He gets his calcium 3 days a week and i try vits 2 times a week he refused anything with those one them tho. he eats about 1 full cup of mustard greens and chopped butternut/acorn squash sprinkled on it(the calcium sticks to those really well) He refused colard greens. Hes a tricky one he wont eat unless he wants to. So i give him what i know he will eat. Hes under a MVB and his basking temp is 104f and cool side is 87f its a little warm today. His last poo was pretty bad. 3 inchs of hard chalk urate 4 inchs of solid poo followed by about 4 inches long and 3 inchs wide softer pile of poo. At that time of the poo he hadnt went in 7 days that i know of. Hes a real buggar when it comes to what he wants to do and not do.

Edit:I forgot to add that it will be 7 days tomorrow since he last pooed for me.

Ok, it sounds like you have everything under control. I hope the vaseline helps him out. Poor baby.
I hope he continues to drink well & keeps on eating, the little crazy dragon.
The temps sound fine are you using a Megaray or a T-rex MVB?
You could add some applesauce or pumpkin in with some food/slurry for him, to help soften up those urates as well, if he will tolerate that kind of food. He might actually like the taste of it though.

Ill have to unscrew the bulb and check to make sure it came with Thoth i think MaryAnn said it was a Megaray 100watt. its 12 " from him and keeps it at a even 102f to a 105f. I'll try some of the slury. Id most likely have to pry his mouth open to get it in there. Ive tried to bribe him with fruits n canalope he just gives me the eye wont even lick em. I'll try the applesaudse i have that on hand and pumpkin for Zero. Thank you so much for your help this was pretty scary for me. I'll be looking at beardie bottoms from now on :shock:

Hes doing well today got some baby applesause in him not much but i hope it helps. Soaked him for about 30 mins in the sugar water this am he wasnt to pleased. Reapplyed the vaseline. Hes not eating anything atm. Hes upset with me messing with him in a way he dosnt like. MaryAnn is comming down to look at him tomorrow and if he needs to go to the vet we will take him. As of right now hes ok. Still no poo tho.

Hello Christy,

Yea, poor Thoth, I am sure that he is not happy at all, with you messing with his hiney so much, as it probably doesn't feel the greatest. He did not like his cold bath either, well, I can't blame him. I have to admit, I always check out boys' hineys. Yes, strange I know. I use wet ones as they are potty trained, so, they are used to me keeping them clean. I have to fairly regularly pull out sperm plugs from one of mine, he gets them all of the time.
Is there any changes at all yet?
Ok, great the Megaray is the best light you can get, so no worries there. If that prolapse does not go back in, he will have to go to the vet, there is just not much else you can do except for making him comfortable.
He has not eaten anything today either? Poor guy.
Let me know what Mary Ann wants to do.

As of this am hes still doing the same its still outside its soft and all but it dosnt look to great to me. So im sure if it isnt a sperm plug or something easy like that the vet visit will def be in order. He still hasnt pooed and isnt eating at all besides a tad of applesause yesterday(1/2 tp). Hes refusing to eat this am Im sure its because hes not feeling well *crosses fingers* Poop boy poo!

Hello Christy,

Well, do the best you can to keep that area moistened daily & soft so it doesn't become necrotic. I hope that he goes to the bathroom soon.
So he is not acting too normal today huh, he did not eat anything?
Is that area still dark red/brown in color? If so, that is definitely not a sperm or urate plug because they are a totally different color, & usually come out easily when bathed & a gentle pull.
I hope that he gets to feeling better soon. Keep me posted on him.

MaryAnn came down and well he pooped about 5 mins before she arived and it was gone. It either came out with the poo or went back in after. His urate was still on the chalky side but the poo that followed was a tad runny might of been clogged from the urate. He feels sooo much better after he went. MaryAnn brought him some Hornworms and he gobbled them up and he ate some squash so thats a good thing. Oh i was so happy to see it gone. I hope it never comes back again! Hes acting so much better. I just hope he stays this way. Thank you so much!

Hello Christy,

That is great that it has gone back in now & that he finally pooped! I would continue to hydrate him daily now to get those urates soft so that doesn't happen again.
Good that he ate some hornworms & squash today also.
I am sure that he feels much better now! Thanks for the update on Thoth.
