We got a second bearded dragon just a few days ago, so I thought I would start her thread.
Last Saturday we went to the Steel City Reptile Expo with the sole intention of getting stocking up on crickets. Well...let's just say it ended up not being like that completely. We started walking around looking at the the different reptiles that were there. Eventually we had come to one of the breeders that was at the last show. Surprising she actually knew who we were. She was telling us about the beardies. My husband asked to hold one of them, which was a girl, and that was it. We asked how much, and she said $100 which was very reasonable considering the type of dragon we got. We asked the woman if we could go think for a few minutes. We decided to get her. Since we had nothing for her, we got her what we could at the show; heat bulb, reptisun 10.0, basking/house thing,
crickets and a reptile carrier because the lady wanted to put her in a cereal box and tape it. We had a few more things to do after the show, so we took her to my brother in laws for about an hour. On the way home we tried to figure out names, My husband thought of Sparks or Spyro and I thought of Venus. Then all the sudden my husband thought of the name Aurora and we both felt that was perfect. Since we didn't get home until late, we stuck her in a small tank just for the night. We got up early the next morning and with the remaining money we had, we got her a 40gal breeder tank, a tree, thermometers (also measure humidity) food/water dishes, and non adhesive shelf liner, plus went to pick some more crickets. So here are her specs...
Name: Aurora
Age: 4 months
Size: 12-13in
Morph: Citrus Tiger/Orange Trans
Here is what the breeder wrote to me because I didn't understand what the trans meant.
"The mom dragon is the orange transluscent dragon with black eyes. That means your girl is 100 % het. [ carries the gene ] for trans. The dad is the Citrus Tiger"
Before I post pics of Aurora, I want to post a pic of her parents.
Here is Aurora's mom
And here is Aurora's dad
And now here are some pics of Aurora. These were taken with a phone camera which doesn't do her justice.
Well, the pics for now. She's a really sweet girl, but she's driving Yoshi crazy. They are in different parts in the same room but apparently can still see each other. Yoshi is all calm until he sees Aurora then all heck breaks loose. He runs around his cage, knocks over his thermometers and does alot of head bobbing. They both like to sit in there trees and look at each other from afar. hehe.
Alrighty, that's all for now. Hope you enjoyed the pics and learning about Aurora. Will post more pics soon.
