powers out

I'm in Lower Manhattan and we got hit really badly. Last night around 8 the power went out (from the con-ed plant exploding) and we lost cell reception. This morning my roommates and I packed overnight bags and headed uptown to a friend's house where there is power(we found a cab - thank goodness). I was holding Bean in a blankie under my coat for the 5 blocks or so that we walked and have him set up in a box with heatwarmers now and our hosts have an 8 year old son who is giving him tons of attention. I didn't have enough room to pack his lights, but I did bring some worms and greens so he's got enough food. Luckily the apartment we are staying at right now is 5 blocks from his vet, so if our apartment still doesnt have power tomorrow I'll probably bring him in to board there where he can get his lights and proper heat. I hope everyone is staying safe!

Last time i had a powercut here it was early afternoon, Hige's lights went out and he just went 'Well, it must be bed time. Off i pop to sleep!' He seemed really confused when his lights came back on a few hours later and wandered round blearily!
