Power Failure Help

Hi I was wondering what would be the best thing to do if there was a power outage in regards of lighting in the winter time.
Heat will not be to much of a problem as the heating is done by propane in the house so the heating could be turned up a bit to help maintain the enclosure temp but I was more worried about the UVB & Normal lighting if there was a power outage, could anyone advise on how long it would be safe for a bearded dragon to be without this lighting.

I believe they can go a few days without uv. I hope you wouldn't lose power long enough for that to be a problem. But heat is important because it regulates their metabolism. You can also use a hot water bottle or those portable hand warmers for emergencies as well.

You can get those hand warmers at Walmart in sporting goods dept for almost nothing. We got several packs a couple of months ago
that had 1 large warmer and 3 small warmers in them. We only paid around $1.25 for each pack. I think we bought 7 or 8 pack.

Good idea. Another key aspect for holding heat is cover the tank ASAP on a power outage. This will help hold in the heat that is there already. Another option is a flashlight, feel and make sure it produces heat when on for a few minutes, most will but, the LED ones don't really. A few flashlights set aside for this issue would be a great idea.

This thread has sparked in interest in me and what are some of the options to have as a standby for heating, light ect.. One place I was drawn to was a website that sells items for survival if there was an earthquake, there are some good products to look at in here, under the heating and lighting tab. Like the shaker flashlight, you shake the light to produce energy for it to light a bulb, not sure how warm the light beam would get but, still pretty useful. I have found that when looking for a flashlight that may produce heat, finding one that has a glass lens on it is key, also ensure it is incandescent as well. The cheapest light I have found still runs about 53 dollars (ehh) but, would most likely produce heat into the ranges to keep your dragon warm enough not to get sick. There is another thing that I am finding as a very valuable key component to keeping your dragons "golden" through a power outage. Power inverter boxes, they wire into your vehicle and provide house hold electricity, run an extension cord and your set, wattage varies on models and manufacturers but, I found a pretty good company with decent prices.
