Hi! So I've heard a few different people talk about how their dragons are potty trained and I'm wondering how to go about doing that. This one site I saw said to put a paper towel down where they normally poop but my dragon poops EVERYWHERE. Wherever he is sitting at the time he needs to go is where he goes. He has pooped in his food bowl, on his basking rock, on his tree, in the middle of his carpet in the tank, literally everywhere. It's frustrating because every single day I'm having to take everything out of his tank and wash/disinfect it. How can I get him to be potty trained. He's only a baby so I'm hoping he ca be trained. The feeding schedule he's on isn't exactly regular btw. On days my boyfriend and I have work we turn his lights on at 7 and feed him a few crickets/horned worms/dubia roaches then feed him again once we get home and before bed. But days we don't have work we don't get up as early.

You might want to replace the carpet with non adhesive shelf liner, easier to clean. Mine won't poop in his tank, so I let him out to run, he likes pooping on the kitchen vynal floor. You could just use paper towels for his tank, or on top of the shelf liner.

It's tough to train a baby but will become easier once he's older. For now I agree that using a non adhesive shelf liner or tile for substrate would be best so it's easier to clean up as needed. Using a solution of vingegar & water will help clean solid bits up and you can sanitize by spraying some F10SC on affected surfaces.

When they are older they tend to only poop once per day. You can train them through routine. I take my guy out of his tank at around the same time every morning and he gets time on vinyl floor to bask under his portable lamp to warm up and he gets his breakfast salad. He poops and then can roam around the house. It can take a while to build up the routine but all three of my dragons have responded well.

Q was tired of pooping where he ate & learned to poop outside! He was about 4 months when he learned. We take him outside everyday when we get home. He waddles around the yard for exercises, nibbles on some greens & does his business. He hasnt pooped in his cage in months.

Gretchen won't go in her tank. Every night 1 hr after her dinner its bathtime and she goes in her water. Then I clean her off with fresh water and it's cuddle couch time u Tim she falls asleep. I was lucky enough that my breeder I got her from does this from hatchlings with all his beardies. Occasionally she goes in the tank but thats usuually when I'm away and I have people looking after her.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
