Possible Brumination

Our 10 month old beardie Thanos has decided to hide away behind the bark and sleep day and night and refuse to eat. We moved the viv the week before Christmas and he was okay for a week and a half but then seemed to slow right down. We bought a big log for him to hide in but almost from the minute it went in the viv he seemed to hide away but did feed. We decided to remove the log but now he has been asleep behind his climbing bark but won't come out now to eat. Any thoughts...
He has uvb T5 tube
Cool temps between 80 - 85
Warm side around 90
And basking 99 - 102

Hello,

Do you have pictures of his tank setup we could see?
Which tube T5 brand are you using, a Reptisun or an Arcadia?
This is the normal time of year that they tend to slow down & sleep or just be lazier than
usual.
Is he maintaining his weight? At his age, he can brumate as long as he is healthy & not
losing weight right now. then he should be fine for awhile.

The tube is an arcadia T5.
We got him in Sept when he was roughly 5/6 months old but was only 22g he is now 181g or he was when I weighed him a few days ago. I checked him last night and he was fast asleep and this morning he is awake but not moving or coming out. I tried to entice him with locusts but he just closed his eyes. He did poo on Friday, after eating Thurs but nothing since. Should I just leave him till he comes out on his own or keep waking him? I'll try and upload a picture of set up later.

Its possible he is doing the semi brumation thing -- how far is the T 5 from basking spot I see the basking bulb I think I would put it directly above him and not pointing toward him - the fixture for the UVB is it the full length of the tank?

UVB is over the basking spot and takes up 2/3 of the tank. The temp under the basking bulbs at various places is 100 - 103. Hes not been out at all today just looks sleepy. Should I do anything with him at all? Thanks

So the UVB is on top of screen? And it is how far? Is he losing weight? I would get a weight on him-- kitchen food scale and weigh in grams--
What do his poops look like are they runny really smelly like enough to drive you from the room smell?

The uvb is inside the tank and has a reflector on it. I'll get him out and reweigh him tomorrow. Poo is soft but formed and smells but no different from when we first got him in fact only really smells if he has been eating more locusts than dubia. Thanks

So if its inside the tank it needs to be 12-15 inches for a T 5 -- anything closer is too close for that bulb - I would get a weight on him and keep track - a chart - I keep charts on mine as to the weight length and how often they poop - well my older one - the baby is still pooping every day or every other -- but when they get older they tend to poop a lot less --- if hes not losing weight and sustaining and poop is good he should be fine - just make sure he is staying hydrated as well ---

The uvb is about 14 " from the ground but closer if he climbs on his logs. He hates having a bath so we have only done it twice since we had him. He has a water bowl and I spray his greens but he's obviously not been eating them. I tried dropping water on his nose but I've never seen him lick it off - he just looks at me as if I'm mad when I do it!!
I'll weigh him tomorrow and make sure he's not lost anything. Should I offer him food whilst he's lying behind the bark or only if he comes out to warm up and bask?
Sorry for all the questions but I thought he was probably too small and young to bruminate and he seemed to be growing so well and eating well until just recently so was very concerned when this happened. Thank you

I just wanted to get the lighting out of the equation-- so w/that being said that is good and not posing issue-- UVB bulb is not over a year as well I am assuming- I would keep offering him food-- does he normally eat greens? And keep an eye on his weight

He's not great with his greens much prefers the dubia and locusts usually! I'll was concerned cause I read that they shouldn't bruminate on a full stomach so when he pooped on Friday after eating Thurs I felt better so haven't pushed the eating. I'll keep a check on his weight and let you know how he goes. Thanks

Weighed Thanos this morning and he was 173g so has lost 8g. Obviously I woke him up weighing him so I put him on his basking log, he warmed up and then ate 8 small dubia, a tiny bit of rocket and about 8 medium locusts. Continued to bask for about another hour and a half then swung on his plants and went back behind the log - hasn't been seen for about 3 hours again now so suspecting he's asleep again .
8g loss in 4 days sounds quite a bit when he was only 181g to start with .
