possible brumation? strange behavior?

my bearded dragon who is around 5-6 months has begun to retreat into his hide in the middle of the day randomly. I suspected it might be time for brumation but because he wasn't showing any signs I just dismissed it. He has been eating and pooping and acting fine other than going into his hide. Yesterday, I took him out and he was acting normal and energized, and he ended up pooping a large amount.

Today, I went to get him from his hide so he can sunbathe in the window(with the screen and under supervision) he puffed up, blackened his beard and hissed at me!!! He has never done that before and he knew I was there so its not like I scared him...

Is he brumating? Did I do something wrong? What do I do?

Nope he just wanted to be left alone - Blaze did it to my daughter here this week - he was in his hide and he hissed at her - so take that as a sign of wanting to be left alone -- they are slowing down its that time of year -- 5-6 month olds do not brumate --- unless they are really big for their size --
