Well I finally got the camera charged today - the kids had to remind me as I needed to take some pics of their class work today hehe - they already kno how forgetful I can be!!!!

Anyway, when I got back, I gave Phoebe her bath, let her get some food and then went to have my own dinner. I lifted my camera on the way back into her (straight after dinner - I had only been away from her for about 15 mins!) and this is what I came back to.....

Seems I was a little late in getting those pics of her tummy!!! Sorry Vicky :( Of course, her laybox was clearly not good enough for her to lay her eggs in and she chose the small area of tile over it!!!

And this was her, less than an hour later...

EDIT - I should have added - there were 19 eggs!!!!!

WOW

I can't believe how many she just popped out. Hard to believe she had that many in there.

Holy Cow  Look at those big beautiful eggs!I cannot believe on her first clutch she laid 19 eggs with no effort at only 13 inches. That really is wonderful!
Ok now I have to be a downer but just a little, you are awatr that females store sperm and can lay at least 3 clutches from on epairing, right?I fear this is not over for her yet so it is now your mission to really fatten her up and get her calcium at peak levels so should there be a round 2 which there most likely will be she is ready for it.Did you have the OH take care of the eggs or were you able to do it?

My goodness! She certainly did a lot of work in a short amount of time, didn't she? I'm glad she got them all out and didn't have any difficulties.

I know... she did a great job, didn't she??? And Kazi man went and hid behind his log until she had finished - he is an absolute sweetheart - every time she got into her lay box to dig, he would sit like a statue until she had finished!!! For being such a crazy man, he is def very aware of whats going on around him.... AND, since she came along he has become such a hungry monster!!! Now im just rambling!!!

I'm actually so so proud of Miss Phoebe... she was rather quiet today - tired I guess... but very alert and VERY hungry!!! Shes so so thin now.... thats another thing, should I weigh her and recalculate her meds??

You know I didnt even think of the med dosage, yes weigh her to make sure there isnt an adjustment needed. What a sweet boy Kazi is,I knoew he was a special little man right from the beginning!

Congrats on the eggs! As stated, make sure you let her eat as much as she can all day to help fatten her back up! Also get that extra calcium in her. Did you bathe her after she layed? For the next clutches you can give her a big fluffy blankie to her her rest better at night. Good luck and keep us updated.. :D

We didnt bathe her right away - she was very VERY unsettled after laying and wouldnt stay still for us to get her out of the viv - she also attempted to bite my mother-in-law.... but we managed to get her to drink quite a bit - first from a syringe and then from a shallow dish... she was bathed first thing the next morning! Oddly Phoebe doesnt like blankies... she seems to pretend to sleep when we get her out for cuddles but as soon as we put her back in her viv for the night, she is outta there hehe- she would much rather sleep curled up in a ball on the one place in her viv that there is no tiles or carpet... but she must sleep well - shes up on her basking log an hour before lights on every morning!!!

He is a special little man - a total monkey but a complete sweetheart at the same time!!! You know, I know they are solitary and I know they adjust pretty quickly to change but the more I think about how he has been over the last 4 months, the more I think he was actually depressed after Abu died... even the vet seems to think he may have been suffering from some sort of depression - I honestly think he needs the 'company' even tho he never actually sees her but he is a totally different beardie now!!

Ok that was a bit of an off topic ramble!! lol!!

Anyway, I will keep you updated - will get new scales tomoro and post any weight difference - shes due her meds tomoro tho - if there is a weight variance, should I give her the original dosage until I get the correct dosage figured out??

with 19 eggs there will surely be a weight variance. I would give same dose today and be sure to change it first thing tomorrow.

<3 you're doing good with her. Glad she has a great home now!

Well Miss Phoebe has her follow up appt at vet tomoro.... I cant decide whether to take Kazi with me or not.... I never booked him in as they only had 1 free appt but, he still isnt pooping regularly enough for me!!! I dunno what to do... hes been to the vet 3 times in the past 3 months and every time they tell me he's a lovely, healthy dragon and they cant feel anything in his tummy worth worrying about... if he would poop at least I could take another poop with me.... I dunno... bla!! He is healthy tho - he looks good, hes active, hes the little monster he always was. I guess im just a paranoid beardie mum!!

O well, il let you all know how Phoebe is when we get back!

Hi Miss T
I would let the Kazi man be.The pooping thing doesnt really sound like a huge issue as some beardies do go off routine as they get older especially during brumation season.Concentrate on Miss Phoebe just for now,ok?One beardie at a time or you may implode...lol

Hehe... he just worries me - hes my little monkey man n I hate that I have to help him poop so often!!! As soon as he poops tho, im going to try to get a more local vet to do a fecal - its a bit of a trek to our vet to just drop in a poop sample - but I figure a regular vet can diagnose and we can go to our vet for any treatment.

Phoebe also hasnt pooped since she had all those eggs - vet said not to worry yet as she couldnt feel to much poop in her tummy!! Anyway, to the matter in hand, Miss Phoebe has been given a clean bill of health - bright eyes, good colour and no more breathing trouble!! So no more meds!! HOORAY!! Now, perhaps, we can all finally start bonding with the little darling (we women get the joys of medicating so we get the stink eye 24/7 - the men have been getting all the love from her!!)

The vet made a real interesting point tonight tho - Phoebe was housed on a bark substrate before (I cant remember the name of it) which the vet said is often medicated and can cause both eye and respiratory problems so maybe that was the cause of all of her little problems in the first place!!

Anyways, hopefully things are on the up for her now... I did notice this evening her tummy is getting a little big again - hopefully it IS just a poop this time!! hehe!

Hey again guys.... just another quick piece of advice needed...

if indeed Miss Phoebe is heading for round 2 on the egg front, should I still freeze the next clutch? Or would it be less risky this time to attempt to hatch them? If she is planning to lay, and it is acceptable to hatch this clutch, I have about 3 weeks to get organised!!!

Thanks

T

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
