My Flats has been having weird poop lately, it always has undigested food in it (cricket legs and heads eww!) and it confuses me! I have his basking temp at around 105-110. He also seems like he has trouble going, I have had to give him baths because he wont go for a whole week or 4 days. When he goes it seems like he pushes out really hard and that also worries me a little. :/ Also there is always this weird yellow shell on the outside of his urates, I cut back on calcium and I give lots of baths for hydration and its still there. I only dusted his food with calcium and vitamins 1-2 a week since I gut loaded his crickets with Flucker's calcium food and water gel diet. He still likes to eat, even though he hasn't touched his veggies much :( and sometimes hes a little lethargy. I caught him sleeping under his basking rock a couple of times!

If any of you have an idea of why this is happening let me know.

I figure its parasites and I am going to take him to the vet this weekend but if you all can give me some suggestions or ideas that would be great :D

I better say that once I stopped bathing her as much the problem went away. I just realized that the post ended with it saying that parasites might be the problem but it wasn't.

it was like that before, I started bathing him because he wasnt going. He could be over hydrated from the veggies but he hasnt been eating those for like over a few weeks. Thats why this confuses me so much! His poop used to be super watery when he went in his cage but I dont know if it still is. Thank you for your response! :)

That's weird because her poo looked exactly the same. Well I hope that you get it figured out

It is weird :/ but your suggestion could very well still be true, he could be eating some of his veggies still but maybe its just a really small amount and I dont notice. He used to eat all of his veggies. Did your girl also have the yellow shell on the outside of her urates? Did her poop smell bad?

Well when daisy had pin worms her poo was very watery and really weird looking. It also smelled really really bad. She has been clear of pin worms and corridea for a while now. But when I thought that she had a problem her poo looked exactly like that. With the weird yellow shell and the legs and other body parts in her poo. I was very worried because I thought that se was really sick. I was also bathing her almost everyday. Once I stopped bathing her everyday. The poo went back to normal. I guess too much water makes it so that food doesn't digest all the way in their stomachs. Her poo has never really smelled bad except when she has corridea. I hope this helps you :)

His poop does smell bad so I know a fecal needs to be done, I only give him baths every few days since he really HATES it so he doesn't stress too much. Plus he wont poop for weeks at a time so that's why I try to bathe him every few days instead of every week. I just don't know how he could be getting too much water but ill definitely keep that in my mind and ask my vet about it. Thank you very much for your suggestions and advice! It helped me narrow down the possibilities. :D

Hello all!

I figured I would give you an update on my boy! I took him to a vet and he gave him some Panacur and Albon for worms and parasites, he didnt do a fecal but he said his poop looked fine and he was a really healthy boy and he was very pleased to see a healthy beardie come in for once! He just told me to continue what I was doing and he will be good to go. Thanks for the help you all gave! :love5:

Hi! Either the Albon or the Panacur are fairly harsh meds. Are you giving a probiotic 6 hours before or after the meds? I have seen experienced folks on here caution about giving these drugs without determining for sure that parasites warranted the drugs. You might want to pm Tracie (Drache613) to make sure that medicating is okay.

Esther,

He gave him both of those drugs just the one-time, he did not give me any to continue treatment; he said I did not need to. I asked him about a probiotic and he told me that he should be ok without one, he was an exotic vet that studies reptiles immensely so I would hope he is not wrong. I could pick him up some soy yogurt if it will be an issue, in the mean time he seems to be doing well.

Okay, so my Mustashio is about 14months old and has been on an "unauthorized" hiatus from vegi's for the last 3 months. Grrrr...... He used to eat 2 bowlfuls of greens a day, and then he slowed down to virtually NO greens vegis, or fruits. I thought he was in a semi brumation state, because he was pretty lazy, but would still eat crickets and phoenix worms just fine. I posted many times about this and tried all the suggestions on getting him to munch more of the green stuff, but nothing has worked. I did a fecal a month and a half ago and it was all clear. But lately he has decreased his poops from every other day to once every 5-6 days and of course that has me worried. Mustashio has a bit of OCD, and will only poop in a bath, so I have been bathing nearly every day for almost the last 8 months! Occasionally there would be undigested PW's in there (he tends to inhale them instead of chewing them!) but I've never seen undigested crickets. His poop looks exactly like your picture though, and since you said that it was due to "overhydration" I am now worried. The other thing is his urates are ROCK hard! I read from another moderators post that her dragon just never absorbed water through his vent and she had to syringe feed water. I also decreased his calcium but its still rock hard. And again...he isnt eating his vegis.

His viv is fine temp wise...105-110 basking spot, 83 cool side, temps with digital probe thermometer, Reptisun 10, on tile, etc. It is almost time for his yearly exam, so I think I'm going to do the full checkup, but the "over hydration" thing has me curious. They yellow around the urates has gone away, but now the urates are still rock hard. (I know...the thrill of my day is squishing--or attempting to squish--lizard poop with a fork! Sheesh! The things we do for love of dragon!) I'll be following this thread to see whats up.

When I stopped giving Daisy as many baths her poo went normal again. It looked just like the pic. Someone said it was over hydration that did it and now it has never happened again

But were the urates hard? Or was it just the yellow shell stuff that went away?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
