My husband witnessed someone in a small compact car swerving to hit a large full grown snapping turtle crossing the road. (for those of you who aren't aware, common snappers can get like 20 inches in length and weigh up to 85lbs. This one was about as big around as a hubcap and about 8-10 inches tall.) They ended up in a ditch. the snapper acted slightly annoyed when my husband tried to check on it but otherwise seemed unphased by the accident.
The funniest part is, they tried to kill an animal for giggles, and only managed to mess up their own car. Meanwhile the turtle barely even acted like it noticed what happened. At most the turtle might have been pushed a few inches and kept on walking.

If that was me, I would've very sadly and pointlessly took the snapper home (hush to those of you who know me).
Gina, Gina, Gina.... whatever will we do with you?! :lol:Goonie":prsw3622 said:If that was me, I would've very sadly and pointlessly took the snapper home (hush to those of you who know me).
Hey, Buddy needs a playmate -- I'm only thinking of the welfare and happiness of my babies :mrgreen:gulfbrzdawn":1m6pw2ee said:Gina, Gina, Gina.... whatever will we do with you?! :lol:Goonie":1m6pw2ee said:If that was me, I would've very sadly and pointlessly took the snapper home (hush to those of you who know me).

Actually, Buddy had sadly never seen another snapper before (unless he had seen some of his siblings upon hatching). It'd be pointlessly interesting to find out how he would react to meeting one.beardie parents":2q65zl4v said:gulfbrzdawn":2q65zl4v said:Goonie":2q65zl4v said:Hey, Buddy needs a playmate -- I'm only thinking of the welfare and happiness of my babies
I agree, Dawn. I think she only wants another pet. She hasn't thought about how Buddy will respond to another one of his species. Since it's been at least 1.5 years, probably more, since he's seen a snapper turtle, I don't think Buddy will know what to do with one if he does have one in his home with him.
HEY! I pointlessly and sadly resemble that remark!spurlee01":1u2r4h1g said:For future reference, never tell Gina that you rescued a turtle from the road. She will remind you for weeks that you should have brought it home!
