Hello everyone
I think I may have a problem but I am not sure,
I had both beardies out of their viv today and Tamyas (my male)
was blackbearding, headbobbing and stomping like crazy.
After I put Shen-ron back home I turned around to grt Tamyas and he was biting down on my jacket and flailing around, after he let go I put him into his viv and he bit down and his blanket and shook again,
After a bit I saw blood from around his vent, and he was rather dopey.
It has been about 45 minutes and he seems back to normal. Can someone give some advice on what may have happened?? I would like to take them both to a vet as they are both almost a year, but if anyone has any ideas I would really like to hear them as I cant afford the vet at the moment.
Thank you for listening.

Are they housed together? If so, they should be separated asap-I suspect one was biting the other. Meanwhile, what substrate are they on, what are the basking spot temps? cool side temps/ hot side temps? Do you dust with calcium 4x weeks and vitamins a couple times?

I should have put in more info but I was really worried
Their substrate is nonadhesive shelf liner, they are housed separately,
Their basking zones are between 100-110 depending on the time of day
And the cool side is around 75-85 degrees
And I do dust their food as recomended,

When i do have them out of their vivs they are kept away from each other.
I just got back from the store and he seems happy and normal, but any advice would
still be helpful please!
Im just really worried about him as both of them are just about 1 year old,
Thank you for listening

I blame spring fever. Especially with males, a little touch of violence appears when the weather warms up. Richard went after a plastic spoon yesterday and I thought it was going to end up looking like a surfboard after a shark attack! Fortunately he didn't break it. He's also gone after the fake plants in his viv, the red cup he gets his crickets in, and the syringe I give him water in every night, all in the past week. He did this last year too, and it lasted until the weather got warm and stayed warm. I think it's the fluctuating temps (which means fronts are moving in and out and changing the air pressure) that make them cranky.

The spring fever attitude I can handle, but the blood from his vent is what really made me worry,
He seems ok now but Im still very concerned.

Blood from the vent at times occurs when the male is trying to mate.....he scratches himself when he wraps his own claws and accidentally grasps his hemi pene. I've seen it happen to my own, and it has never caused any real injury. Just keep an eye on him to be sure it doesn't bleed excessively or the next day or more. He should be fine.

Just thought I'd mention that his flailing that you mentioned, with the jacket and the blanket, were his attempts to mate. Some dragons will do that with inanimate objects.

Thank you very much! I was extremely worried that something was very wrong!
I plan to be careful with him for the next while, the blood scared the heck outta me.
Ill have to keep them out of line of sight so he wont go nuts again next time I take them out of their vivs.
Silly little boy!
Thank you again for all the help!

You're welcome ! Some males, once they even catch a tiny glimpse of another dragon, will be in that crazy mode and on the hunt for a mate for the entire spring/ summer. Some settle down, others are restless all the time. Hopefully he'll settle down and forget his rendezvous with your jacket ! Silly boy for sure.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
