Please help! Very worried!

Hi all, sorry if this is in the wrong place, wasn't sure where to post.

So I had my baby beardie outside with me in our screened in pool/patio area while my husband took a dip in the pool. We live in Florida and have tons of lizards everywhere. So when I took him out, I saw a couple lizards on part of the screen, they were on the other side. Except there was one teeny, tiny baby lizard on our side. I had my baby in my hand and my hand close to the baby lizard, to show him the lizards, and what does he do? GOBBLES the baby lizard! In one swift nom. I tried to get it out of his mouth but wasn't fast enough, only got part of the tail.

So now I'm worried sick, and my husband thinks it's hilarious.

Please, please someone tell me he's not going to die. He's only a baby, just got to 7 inches and 14-15 grams. He is fed very well, we give him salad and as many crickets and phoenix worms as he wants, so it's not like he's starving.

Only thing I can tell you is to really watch your baby. Florida has a lot of geckos running around..we had them all over the place when I lived in key west. Wild lizards can have parasites so you want to watch for that...diarreah, really stinky poo's and sometimes you can see them if he poohs in the bath water. Another thing to watch for since your dragon is a baby is impaction..if he strains to go and cant, wont eat, lethargy Id get him to a vet as impaction can kill a dragon. Other than that I dont know what to tell you maybe someone else can chime in and offer more advice...up his temps a bit to aid in disgestion and keep him hydrated so he may go poo a bit more easily. If he has trouble going...Id try some unsweetened applesauce with a bit of olive oil mixed in to get him going, canned pumpkin <not the kind for pies> and squash...Hope all goes well for him.

Thank you. I think it was an anole because we have tons of them in our yard. So far so good, I know it's probably too early to tell since it's only been about 2 hours since he's eaten it. I gave him his cricket dinner, so far he ate 14, he probably could have eaten more but he is probably full from his lizard snack. I already gave him a bath today but I'm going to give him another to see if that helps him pass it. I think even if he seems ok I'm going to get a fecal done on Friday just to be safe. I'm going to make myself sick over this.

i wouldnt worry to terribly much, just keep an eye on him and dont be so hard on yourself. Its fly season here where I live in Colorado...open the door to go outside and the flies are so bad thy swarm and get in the house..no matter how careful we are we get flies like everyone else around here. Two got into Geico's cage and before I could chase them out...gulp they were eaten..so now i have to watch him for worms..nasty nasty flies....so no matter how careful you are..sometimes something happens that is out of your control so just watch him and dont beat yourself up over it...Im a worry wart by nature after having a very very sick dog so every little thing bothers me a lot. If it was a baby anole, they arent toxic so dont worry about that, just watch his pooping and I wouldnt feed anymore till he digests what he already ate...you can give him water but I would hold off the food..dont want to shove in more on top of the lizard he ate. JUST my opinion on that.

I agree with the other posters, just keep an eye on him, but mostly I am with your husband and find it hillarious, I can picture you holding him close to the anole and saying look buddy that is your little cousin and CHOMP...lmao I know Havoc used to get close to my Gecko enclosures and stare at them like he wanted to eat them, so it is no surprise that by you putting him that close to the anole he would not eat it. :)

Oops! I didn't even think about not feeding him more. He usually goes poo about an hour or 2 after we turn on his lights in the morning so hopefully...

I did laugh some, I mean, there I was, holding him up to the lizards like "look! make friends!" and he just goes GULP! on the little baby. I was just stunned for a second like, what just happened!! That baby didn't even have time to blink (do they blink?)!

You should have seen me the first 2 weeks we had him, he wouldn't eat for whatever reason...I was almost in tears. We are just so attached to the little stinker, and we've never had a reptile before so I feel so clueless, know what I mean?

It's understandable to be a little overwhelmes with your first Beardie, my saving grace was I reserched for almost a year before getting Havoc. I soaked up every thread on this forum on a regular basis and so far I have not had any worries or issues with Havoc whatsoever. Hang in there, you will get the routines down and become very comfortable with the day to day care of your Beardie and will learn not to worry about every little thing because you will be knowlegeable about the possible issues, causes and effects of everything. And if you do need information on anything feel free to ask here, everyone is very friendly and more then willing to help, even if you think it is a stupid question, don't fret someone will help as there is no stupid questions when it comes to the love and care of your Beardie.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
