Hello,

GREAT the fecal was negative then. So, he seems to be doing better then? I am in total agreement with the vet to have him taken off of the Baytril. Remember I had mentioned how harsh it was on their tiny system at that age, even though he was on the correct dosage. I think that he has had enough of it now. He may have been dehydrating though with the higher temperatures & the medication it was too much for him.
It doesn't matter which formula you mix the probiotics with, the babyfood or the critical, either one is fine. So, he loved the babyfood? I figured that he would!
I hope your light gets there soon! I know how frustrating it is waiting on something not knowing any information on it.
He should start to shed soon. He has just gotten a little messed up on his growth at the moment, but give him time he will start growing now pretty quickly once his stress levels are completely down.
Keep us posted on him.

Hi there everyone. Spike is the same today, not as bad as before but holding steady and that's something to be thankful for. :) He is still refusing the crickets and worms. :( Having a bit more difficulty getting the food in him today but he has taken some. I m here all day so I can feed him a little bit every hour. I also tried dipping the rmaine in the baby food but he wouldn't take that either. Thankfully he had a bowel movement last night.

He enjoyed his bath this morning (pics below) although he didn't run around as much as usual. However, he did run around alot when I put him in the feeding enclosure. He seems to hate it in there. He will jump and leap at the side where I m sitting as if saying "GET ME OUTTA HERE!!" I kept him in there for 10 min. to no avail. Oh, but before putting himself to bed last night he ate some sweet potatoes on his own! :D

The people at this Amazon store, Max Pet, won't return my emails. I can't find a telephone number for them. Their rating is 5 out of 5 which really makes me mad  because they r just ignoring me. I can't wait anymore so I m sending my hubby out as soon as he gets home to get the reptisun for me.

I m still a nervous wreck but m determined to help him pull thru this and be healthy n strong

He looks pretty much the same. Here are two pics from this morning.

He is adorable. And he has his head up which is a great sign.

I don't take my baby out of her viv to feed her. When both Spark and Embyr were small I used a pyrex dish to feed them in. Its clear glass and has two inch sides. I would put the dish in her viv and then dump the crickets in. She could see the crickets moving around and would race over. At first, I had to help lift her into the dish, but after a while she figured it out and crawled in on her own. I like it cuz it reduces feeding stress (leaving them in the viv), they can see the movement through the glass (it was hilarious to watch her try and catch them from the outside of the dish), and very few could escape to raise chaos in the viv (I hate having to chase crickets right before bed.) You might try it and see if it works. I started with a rectangle dish 8 x 5 x 2 (or there abouts).

I also wanted to tell you to check out the nutrition information at http://www.beautifuldragons.com/nutrition The list is very comprehensive and details what can be fed, what is the best for a staple and what should only be a treat. I would stop feeding the romaine. It can cause diarrehia and doesn't have a lot of nutritional value. I usually feed dandelions if I can find them (Whole Foods and Albertson's here in the west) or Collard greens or Turnip greens. I will feed Mustard too, if they look the best. I also am feeding a jarred food I bought at the petstore. It's made by Nature Zone and is called Iguana Bites. I tried Bearded Dragon Bites, but Embyr prefers the green ones (I checked labels and they have the same ingredients - one is red and smells like strawberries and the other is green and smells like lime.) It has vitamins and calcium added to them and she loves them a lot. I had to hand feed her the first couple, but now she eats about 50% of the bites and 50% fresh veggies.

Here is a link to show you what the jars look like, in case you want to try them. http://www.naturezonepet.com/samples.html

I hope you receive the Repti-Sun today. Good luck. Let me know how he does.

Thanks to Crickest's suggestion about the pyrex dish, Spike just ate a waxworm AND 2 crickets! :D I know this doesn't sound like a lot but for Spike, this is a big deal!!! We r hopefully on the way to a full recovery n my little peanut may grow yet!!!

I m still going to feed him the Critical Care and baby food until his appetite increases to near normal (which it's never been but I m sure one day it will b). I will continue to update!

I hope u guys realize that without u, Spike may not have survived. :notworthy: U guys r the best! :love5:

XOXOXOXOXO

Hey everyone! Spike is so spunky today! He swam around non-stop in his bath (so much that it took me forever to get these pics!)and drank a lot of water! Still syringe feeding the critical care and baby food. He ate 2 more crickets. He is well on his way. :D Did have a loose bowel movement today, stinky and beige in color but better out than in, right?

Here's my little booger this morning: So alert, I luv it!!!

He looks great! Much brighter, more alert, eyes open wider, and standing tall! You did good!! Maybe you can relax a little now that he is feeling better. You were able to get the ReptiSun 10.0 bulb?

Hey everyone. Spike never ate live prey again today but I did get some of the critical care and baby food in him. He went to bed really early - 5:00pm. I went in to try and feed him and he is sound asleep all the way in the top of his plant next to the screen.

puffsmama: Thx for keeping us in ur thoughts n prayers. We need it. We're not quite out of the woods yet but things r definitely looking up. Hopefully he'll eat more tomorrow. I cried when I read about Puff. He was so beautiful, I know how u must have felt. I m sorry u had to go thru that but I m also sure that ur life was better having had him if only for a little while. I hope Spike's colors come out like Kiera's. Her red is SO pretty!

Malibusmom: LOL. I've hardly made it thru basic training! I think I have 25 new gray hairs!!!! I can't imagine boot camp!!! That's too funny about the hawk. When can u give them a fleece or stuffie to sleep with? Is Spike too little for that? He's so thin I bet he'd love a little bit of fleece. Although rite now he seems to ve having a love affair with the thermometer probe!!!

Loganator: Good news!!! I finally heard from the *****s at Max Pet and they FINALLY shipped the bulb, but not until the 14th! I ordered it the 11th. Is that ridiculous or what??? And then they mailed it USPS Priority mail. Ugh. I don't think I can refuse it if it comes in the mail. I guess I could always stash it away for next time but that's not really the point, u know? They gave me a whole speech about how they're sorry and it should have shipped sooner but they r a small mom n pop business n they work very hard. Blah, blah, blah. I m sure they r very nice people but they lost my business.

:help: Also, with the new bulb, how long until I see an improvement? Should I know rite away?

As always, thanks so much'

Hey guys. Spike seems to be taking a step back again. He's been lethargic and keeping his head down. He won't eat any live prey again and hardly moved around during his bath. The good news is the Reptisun bulb came today and I put it in right away. It's been on since noon. I did syringe feed him the critical care/baby food mixture today. He's also doing this funny thing where he keeps opening and closing his mouth while he's basking. I am keeping my hopes up and trying not to freak out.

I made the girl at Petsmart pick out the tiniest crickets they had while I wait for the pinheads to come - should be here Monday.

demonsmama: I am so sorry to hear that you lost your little sweetie. :( Thank you for checking on us. I really appreciate it.

If u guys have any ideas, I am open to trying anything and everything. I feel like I'm not doing enough but I don't know what else to do.

Holding on to hope,

Jane

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
