I just got a new beardie today from petsmart,. It seemed fine and energetic the ride home. Once I put it in its cage it had been sleeping, I thought nothing of it. Once it got up I gave it about an hour or so and tried to feed it some waxworms, it would not even look at them. So I left them in the cage in case it wanted them. Then it got up in its basking spot and its been there all day just sleeping. The guy at the store didnt know how old it was but I would say a couple months. Also, it does seem like its shedding on the part where its tail comes from the body. Please help! Thanks

Hi,
Welcome to the world of beardies! He or she is just getting adjusted to the new environment. They sometimes won't eat for the first couple of days. Just keep offering wax worms (but do so sparingly since they are high in fat) and small crickets. Be sure not to leave the crickets in overnight though cuz they might bite your beardie. Mine was shedding that part of her tail whe we first brought her home too. Spray yours with a mist of water at least twice a day for a couple days until it is more adjusted then u can give it a warm bath to help loosen the skin and to hydrate it. (I meant to say continue spraying twice a day but u can also give it a bath). Let us know if it still isn't eating by Wednesday though and I'm sure someone on here has some tricks they can use to get him/her eating. Good luck and please don't hesitate to ask any other questions. There are a lot of knowledgable people here

It isn't that common for them to be lethargic while they're in shed. But, all beardies are different. You just got your beardie, so he's not necessarily going to be eating or energetic. He's probably just adjusting to his new home. Give him a few days and if he's still like that, let us know.

Thanks for the help guys. My friend suggested to give him crickets and he munched them right up! I really feel bad that it was the fact that he didnt like the stuff I was giving him. I really fell in love him and was starting to cry worrying about him

I'm glad you were able to get your little one to eat!?It's always nerve racking when they don't want to eat the stuff u offer. U should try Phoenix worms (also known as calciworms, reptiworms, and black soldier fly larvae) too. I've read they are extremely nutritious for our reptile buddies. :D

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
