Please help my new baby dragon

Ok so I got a boy name meaty about a week ago and I had to move him abit cause I had to travel two days to bring him home so for 5 days he's been in his tank, it is a ten gallon and my problem now is I belive I have a good set up, but my dragon has gone without UVB for a few days cause the first two I didn't have the bulb, then the next day I used a coil with is bad so I switched to repti glo 10.0 for two days witch is bad so from tan he's brown now...and he the repti glo made he's colored nice but looked like it irritated his eyes so I put 5.0 and he's not as colorful but more alert and seems to more energetic....so I finally ordered repti sun 10.0 for him but it won't come for a week or two...witch bulb should I use until then, repti glo 10.0 or 5.0 folrecents for my ten gallon? And I no I rite alot lol but I am new and want nothing but the best for my dragon

If you wouldn't mind reviewing your tank setup with us, that will help us pin point any problem areas you may be having. Also, posting a few pictures of your tank would be helpful, as well.
Here is a questionnaire that we sometimes use, as a general base to get as much information gathered as possible, to help you out.


How old is your dragon?
How long have you had your dragon?
How long is your dragon?
What is the sex of your dragon?
What size enclosure do you have your dragon in?
What type substrate do you have on the bottom of your tank?
Do you use UVB lights?
If so, Is it a coil, compact, fluorescent tube, or Mercury Vapor bulb?
What is the brand name and number of your bulb? Wattage (if MVB)?
How old is your UVB bulb?
How close can your dragon get to the UVB?
Do you use a separate basking bulb? What kind and what is the wattage? Is it a white or colored bulb?
What are the basking temps?
What is the cool side temp?
Do you take the temps with a stick on thermometer, a digital thermometer with a wire and a probe end or a temp gun?
Where exactly are you taking your basking temps?
Do you use a heat rock or heat pad?
What do you feed your dragon? Please be specific.
How often do you feed and what time do you feed (morning, afternoon, night)?
Do you gutload (feed) your crickets, worms, etc?
Do you use vitamin or calcium supplements? What brand(s)? How many days a week do you use each of them?
Is your dragon having regular bowel movements (poops)?
Do you bath your dragon? How often?
Do you mist your dragon or offer water other than in the bath?
Does your dragon share an enclosure with another dragon?
Have you gotten a vet check and fecal done?

Do you have a digital thermometer w/probe or a temp gun? Either of these are recommended ways to get or monitor the temperatures within your dragons enclosure. The digital w/probe's are around 10-12$ generally while you can get a temp gun for about 30$. Both are good options. If you are using a gauge style thermometer your readings could be off by as much as 20 degrees. If you have one of the recommended thermometers, for a young dragon (hatch-ling) such as yours then the typical temperatures should be 105-110 degrees Fahrenheit, in the basking area and around 85 degrees Fahrenheit in the cool side of the enclosure.

i would think a 50 watt would do it but you gotta use trial and error i use a 75 watt on my 50 gallon. i have a hood and it doesnt allow a lot of heat to escape and the works well. i used a 100watt and got 120 degrees so becareful. They can die of heat exhaustion.

Please take a couple minutes and answer the questions that were posted in the middle of the thread. That will give us all the info we need to help out. Good job on getting the ReptiSUN 10 - best bulb there is. Until then, I would probably stick with whichever seems to bother him the least. It shouldn't be a problem for a few days.

Critical things are the temperatures on the hot and cold sides of the tank, and what you are using on the floor, as well as what you are feeding him.

Also, keep in mind that 10 gallon is awfully small and will need replacing very soon. You can expect him to get to about 18-20 inches long within 4 to 6 months, and they need room to get around. Plan for a 40 gallon minimum pretty soon

I have been feeding him live and dead meal worms brand (can-o-worms from my hand since he hasn't really eaten good and occasional crickets. And I dust his food with repti cal with vitamin d3 every other day witch I'm not sure I should do that since he's a baby or should I dust his food everyday?...but I keep his temp at 110 and 80 but I got regular thermometers so someone said it's bad so is a 75 wat bulb good for a ten gallon tank? And only I use a under the tank heater at night since my home gets cold but wen I shut the lights off and put the heater on he only stays in the same spot, he dosent go to were the heater is, so were he is it's 60 were on the heater side it's 70 what should I do?

I would say the one that dosent irritate the eyes,
It dosent matter on the colouring for a couple of days,
as soon as you get your new tube you will see a difference again x

I have 2 thermometers on the floor of my tank and the hot side says 110 and cold is 75-80

how old is your dragon? 110 is the hottest it can be, you might just want to bring it down by a couple of degrees.

My dragon is a month and a half...and I was wondering what it means when my dragon waves at me...but more important what is a good feeding plan for my dragon, like a schudele for eating cause I usually just hand feed him whenever so what would be a good feeding plan for him cause I no he has special needs since he's a baby?

You could feed your little one in a separate container so he could catch his own food?

O ok so when I feed him how many meal worms or crickets should I give him in a feeding that isn't to much but not to little?
